On the morning of May 23, at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Hanoi, on behalf of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly and the People of Vietnam, Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly came to express condolences and write in the condolence book to commemorate the late President Ebrahim Raisi, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and a number of high-ranking Iranian officials who died in the plane crash on May 19.

Writing in the condolence book, on behalf of the National Assembly Standing Committee and the Vietnamese People, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong sent his deepest condolences to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, the National Assembly, the Government, the People of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the family of the late President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and the victims of the plane crash.

Previously, on May 20, 2024, Acting President Vo Thi Anh Xuan and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent condolences to Acting President of Iran Mohammad Mokhber; National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man sent condolences to Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf. On the same day, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son sent a message of condolences to Acting Foreign Minister Iran Ali Bagheri Kani. The plane carrying President Raisi crashed in East Azerbaijan province on May 19. In addition to President Raisi, on board were Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Governor of East Azerbaijan province Malek Rahmati and the Ayatollah of Tabriz, northwestern Iran, Mohammad Ali Al-e-Hashem. All members of the flight were killed. Iran has declared five days of national mourning for President Ebrahim Raisi and other officials who died in the accident. On May 22, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei presided over the funeral of President Ebrahim Raisi and his entourage.
