Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan presents Tet gifts to the poor in Ben Tre

Here, the Vice President presented gifts to 260 families with difficult circumstances, poor and near-poor households, workers, and children in difficult circumstances; and presented a symbolic plaque to Ben Tre province with 10 Great Solidarity houses (total value of 500 million VND). The Vietnam Children's Fund donated 200 million VND to the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Ben Tre province.

On this occasion, the Vice President presented 600 gifts (total value of 700 million VND) to policy beneficiaries across the province, including: 200 gifts for poor, near-poor households, and policy households in difficult circumstances; 200 gifts for workers in difficult circumstances; 200 gifts for children in special and difficult circumstances in the province.

Speaking at the program, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan suggested that the Party Committee, government and people of Ben Tre province continue to pay attention to investing in cultural, social, health, educational institutions, and the most practical social welfare for the people, especially in remote areas, revolutionary base areas, helping people, especially those with meritorious services, those in difficult circumstances,... to have an increasingly improved quality of life, and access to the common development of the country.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Nhung, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ben Tre province, by the end of 2023, the whole province still had over 21,124 poor households, near-poor households, nearly 5,000 policy families still facing difficulties; of which, nearly 200 policy families and over 2,000 poor households, near-poor households needed support to build houses. The Vietnam Fatherland Front of the province, member organizations of the Front, together with sectors and levels in the province, mobilized, received registrations for support, distributed and presented over 26,000 gifts, worth nearly 13 billion VND to families with difficult policies, poor households, near-poor households and other subjects. The province strives for each family with difficult policies, poor households, near-poor households to receive a Tet gift.

Previously, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan also visited and wished a Happy New Year to Heroic Vietnamese Mother Do Thi Phiem (born in 1934, residing in Hamlet 3, Thanh Phu Dong Commune, whose husband and two children died in the resistance war against the US). The Vice President kindly visited, encouraged, and sent best wishes to Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, families of policy beneficiaries, and people with meritorious services to the revolution; at the same time, expressed the deep gratitude of the Party and State for the family's great sacrifices and contributions to the struggle for national liberation.

The Vice President wished Heroic Vietnamese Mother Do Thi Phiem good health and a long life, to continue to set an example, to teach her children and grandchildren to promote the heroic revolutionary tradition, to actively study and follow Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, and to make many contributions to the cause of building a beautiful and prosperous homeland.
