(CLO) Every January 5th, the Dong Da Mound Festival is solemnly held to open the traditional festivals of the nation, to commemorate the national hero Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue. This year, the Festival will be held for three days, from February 2-4, 2025 (ie from January 5-7, At Ty year 2025).
This year, for the first time, the Festival was held on the evening of February 2 (January 5) at Dong Da Cultural Park instead of in the morning like every year.

The highlight of this year's Festival is the art program "Dong Da - Golden History - Steady Future", with the participation of famous artists: People's Artist Thanh Lam, singer Trong Tan, singer Minh Quan, singer Vu Thang Loi, singer Hoang Hong Ngoc, singer Ngoc Ky, singer Viet Danh, singer Dong Hung, singer Minh Duc, singer Quynh Lady, singer Minh Phuong with Lavender dance troupe, Sao Tuoi Tho Club, and a group of mass actors from Dong Da district.
According to the Organizing Committee, the art program will have many unique performances made in the form of semi-realistic scenes combined with modern 3D mapping technology, telling historical stories in a modern way with chapters, scenes, and sequences, subtly transformed by special effects, attractive music and diverse forms of expression such as: singing, circus, dance, drum ensemble... This can be considered the largest-scale program ever organized by the Festival.
Vice Chairman of Dong Da District People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Tung affirmed that, up to now, all preparations for the Festival are being urgently carried out, in which the highlight is the art program "Dong Da - Golden History - Firm Future" which has completed 80% of the work items; ensuring the progress and plan set out. With many new factors taking place for the first time, the locality has made careful preparations. The district requires localities to closely follow the scenario, organization plan, be ready to organize and respond to situations before, during and after the Festival.
Going back in history 236 years ago in the Spring of Ky Dau 1789, under the talented leadership and command of Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue, he achieved the victory of Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da with an unprecedented lightning-fast march, crushing the invading Manchu army, commanded by the talented general Ton Sy Nghi, liberating Thang Long, regaining independence and freedom for the nation.
Since its establishment, the Qing Dynasty has always intended to invade and annex our country, always looking for excuses to cause trouble. Taking advantage of Le Chieu Thong's betrayal of the country for glory and asking for help from the Qing Dynasty with a deep hatred for the Nguyen Dynasty, the Qing Dynasty sent 200,000 expeditionary troops to invade our country.
Unable to watch the country being trampled by the Northern invaders, the people suffering from slavery, facing internal and external enemies from the feudal traitors and the Qing Dynasty, Nguyen Hue raised an army and ascended the throne as Emperor Quang Trung, then quickly organized a lightning-fast march to the North.
In early January of the year Ky Dau 1789, Nguyen Hue commanded the army and after a very short time arrived at Tam Diep and joined forces with General Ngo Van So to prepare to enter Thang Long and declare war on the Qing army.
With talented commanders and elite troops, along with the support of people from all regions of the country where the insurgents marched, food supplies, and the recruitment of talented people to join the insurgents, the Tay Son insurgents overcame and destroyed enemy outposts such as Gian Khau, Thanh Quyet, and Nhat Tao, which fell one after another.
On the night of the 3rd day of the Lunar New Year of the Rooster in 1789, the Tay Son army surrounded and controlled Ha Hoi fort (about 20km from Thang Long), threatening and disintegrating the large Qing army force, opening the campaign to liberate Thang Long. On the 4th day of the Lunar New Year of the Rooster in 1789, the insurgents approached Ngoc Hoi fort and coordinated with other armies to prepare to capture and liberate Thang Long.

Early in the morning of the 5th day of the Lunar New Year of the Rooster, 1789, Tay Son troops everywhere shouted and rose up, charging into battle, destroying fortifications, posts and the entire defense system south of Ngoc Hoi post. At the same time, they coordinated with General Dang Tien Dong's army to launch a surprise attack into Dong Da post area, quickly penetrating deep into key positions of the Qing army and destroying the enemy command post.
The Qing army was destroyed up to 5,000 soldiers, their corpses piled up in mounds before the rising tide of the Tay Son army. The enemy general Sam Nghi Dong had to hang himself right at the command post, the Tay Son army continued to pursue and surround the camp of the enemy general Ton Sy Nghi.
Ton Sy Nghi hurriedly crossed the pontoon bridge on the Nhi Ha River (Red River) and fled. The remaining Qing army saw this and jostled and pushed each other, desperately running across the pontoon bridge until the bridge broke. Tens of thousands of Qing soldiers died, their bodies floating all over the river. Thang Long was completely liberated, and the country became independent.
The victory of Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da once again demonstrated the strategic talent of the talented military strategist Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue and the patriotism of our people with the will to rise up and the lightning-fast march, the art of seizing opportunities in raising troops to start a career.
The 2025 Dong Da Mound Festival will recreate this glorious feat with a series of top-notch art programs, promising to become a unique cultural event, attracting a large number of people and tourists to participate.
