Mr. Phan Van Chinh - Director of Domestic Market Department - speaking
Speaking at the Forum, Mr. Phan Van Chinh - Director of the Domestic Market Department emphasized: The retail system plays an important role not only in connecting production and consumption but also as a driving force for economic growth, job creation, and improving the quality of life of the people. Our Party and State always identify that developing the retail system is a key task in the process of industrialization and modernization of the country, contributing significantly to the goal of sustainable development.
In the context of Vietnam's deep integration with the world economy, our retail system has been facing many great opportunities and challenges. Participation in new generation Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) not only expands the market but also promotes healthy competition, creates motivation for innovation, improves quality and services in the retail sector. Therefore, developing a fast and sustainable retail system needs to focus on the following key tasks:
Promoting digital transformation and developing modern retail models including investing in digital technology to develop multi-channel retail models, enhance consumer experience and optimize supply chain management.
Enhance competitiveness and cooperation, encouraging cooperation between domestic and foreign retail enterprises to share technology, experience and build a modern and sustainable retail ecosystem.
Promoting sustainable consumption and environmental protection, including the need to build green supply chains, encourage the use of environmentally friendly materials, reduce waste in retail activities; raise awareness among consumers and businesses about sustainable consumption, towards a circular economy.
Building a synchronous and comprehensive retail network, including developing a modern retail system not only in urban areas but also expanding to rural, remote and isolated areas, ensuring that all people have the opportunity to access quality goods and services.
Promote integration and healthy competition, in which the prerequisite is to create a transparent and equal business environment to encourage domestic and foreign investors to participate in developing the retail industry, bringing common benefits to the whole society.
The forum is an important event in the context of Vietnam's efforts to build and perfect a modern retail system, meeting the requirements of sustainable development and enhancing the competitiveness of the domestic trade sector. The program is divided into two main discussion sessions, focusing on core issues in retail system development, including: "Policy for developing the modern retail market in Vietnam" and "Sustainable development for modern retail distribution chains".
The first discussion session attracted special attention when speakers shared policy solutions and proposed measures to promote the development of the modern retail market in Vietnam. This is an important factor in ensuring the development of the distribution system, aiming to enhance the presence and competitiveness of Vietnamese retail enterprises in the international integration environment. The opinions expressed emphasized the importance of perfecting the legal system, creating a favorable legal corridor for retail enterprises to develop, and at the same time encouraging investment in modern retail models such as e-commerce, smart supply chains and technology applications in retail activities.
In the second discussion session, experts and business representatives focused on analyzing the challenges and opportunities in the sustainable development of modern retail distribution chains. Issues such as the application of international standards on social responsibility, environmental protection and climate change response were discussed enthusiastically. In addition, issues related to digital transformation, the application of information technology in supply chain management, as well as the development of e-commerce and online retail platforms were considered important factors in the development of sustainable retail systems.
The forum is also an opportunity to evaluate the effectiveness of current policies and laws on the retail industry, while creating conditions for state management agencies to listen to opinions from the business community and experts in the industry. The contributions will be the basis for the Ministry of Industry and Trade and state agencies to continue adjusting and perfecting the system of policies and laws, meeting the requirements of domestic trade development, while enhancing the competitiveness of the Vietnamese retail industry in the international market.
One of the important highlights of the Forum is the focus on sustainable development solutions in trade, especially the application of modern technology, digital transformation and the development of green consumption models. Speakers said that the application of advanced technology trends, such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and data analysis tools in supply chain management will not only help optimize retail operations, but also contribute to creating a green, sustainable and environmentally friendly retail market.
The forum also emphasized the importance of training high-quality human resources to meet the development needs of the modern retail industry. In-depth training programs on retail management, digital transformation and supply chain management will help retail businesses improve their competitiveness and keep up with global trends.
The Forum concluded with a consensus on the importance of creating a favorable business environment for retail enterprises, promoting sustainable development of the industry and enhancing national competitiveness in the context of international integration. The conclusions and recommendations from the Forum will be an important basis for the Ministry of Industry and Trade and state agencies to continue to develop and perfect policies to develop the domestic retail market, towards a strong and sustainable trade foundation for the future.
