Reporting to the working delegation, Mr. Hoang Xuan Khoi - Deputy Director of Power Transmission Company 1 said that PTC1 is currently managing and operating a large-scale transmission grid with 12,859.221 km of lines, including 4,314.8991 km of 500 kV lines and 8,544.230 km of 220 kV lines; 84 transformer stations (TSAs) including 16 500 kV TSAs and 68 220 kV TSAs located in 28 provinces and cities from the North to Ha Tinh. Compared to 2023, the volume of lines increased by 1,417 km, equivalent to 12.39%; increased by 3 220 kV transformer stations, equivalent to 4.62%; 1 500kV transformer station, equivalent to 6.67%, the total transformer capacity increased by 3,600 MVA, equivalent to 6.91%. PTC1's power transmission output in 2024 reached 118.41 billion kWh, an increase of 9.56% compared to 2023 and equal to 103.6% compared to the 2024 plan.

Following the direction of EVNNPT to ensure power supply before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2025, PTC1 has issued documents directing the development and implementation of plans to ensure safe and continuous power supply for the transmission grid managed by the unit.
Accordingly, the company and its affiliated units have worked with local authorities and agencies to develop and implement propaganda on ensuring safe operation of the power transmission grid. Develop plans to protect security and safety against fire and explosion for power projects, prevent and strictly handle cases of shooting metal-coated paper fireworks or throwing objects onto power lines, and violations of power line corridors during holidays and Tet.
Do not perform power outage work that affects the load on the grid during the time of ensuring electricity for the 2025 Lunar New Year, except in cases of incident handling or special cases under the direction of a superior management agency.
Organize inspection, heat emission screening, and handle defects in station equipment and 220kV and 500kV lines to ensure safe and reliable operation.
“ The company and its member units have fully prepared materials, equipment, communication systems and means of transport to quickly fix and handle damage to the power transmission grid when incidents occur. Arrange additional material and warehouse forces in shifts to promptly provide materials to handle abnormalities during the 2025 Lunar New Year ,” said Mr. Khoi.
Along with that, the organization will increase 24/24h on-duty during the period to ensure electricity supply during the 2025 Lunar New Year. At the same time, implement a timely and complete reporting regime for dispatching levels when defects arise...
Ensuring safe and reliable operation of the power grid
To ensure the safety of power supply to the Northern transmission grid in 2025 and the following years, the safe and reliable operation of the 500kV Central - Northern transmission line, the imported power grid from China and Laos, as well as the release of hydropower are prerequisites for power supply in the 2025 dry season. PTC has focused on implementing synchronous solutions.
Specifically, develop a suitable plan for maintenance and repair of the power grid, implement repair work, handle existing equipment (replace equipment, handle contacts, add auxiliary steering gear, etc.), complete before March 31, 2025; increase on-duty, inspection, and review of the power grid under management to promptly detect and handle equipment abnormalities, minimize the risk of incidents or separate equipment from operation.

According to Mr. Hoang Xuan Khoi, the company has completed many key projects such as: Equipping resistors and capacitors to ensure the load capacity of the 500kV line 3 from Quang Trach to Pho Noi; installing the second transformer at the 220kV Hai Ha transformer station; increasing the load capacity of the synchronous isolation switch for the transformer station and the line at the 500kV Vung Ang, Ha Tinh, Nho Quan substations; completing the installation of additional auxiliary shafts and replacing pole clamps: synchronously deploying many units, especially focusing on implementing solutions to ensure the operation of the 500kV Central - Northern Power Transmission circuit at the 500kV Vung Ang, Ha Tinh, Nghi Son, Nho Quan, Thuong Tin stations and the 500kV lines circuits 1,2 from Vung Ang to Thuong Tin; Completed the increase in compensation capacity from 50MVAr/110kV to 60MVAr/110kV of 102 shunt capacitor banks at Mai Dong 220kV substation and 101 shunt capacitor banks at Van Tri 220kV substation to increase reactive power support for the Northern power system during the peak summer season of 2024 and the following years...
For the line section, the company has reviewed and inspected the key locations on the 500kV Vung Ang - Ha Tinh - Nghi Son - Nho Quan circuit. Completed the installation of additional auxiliary bearings to minimize the risk of heat generation at these locations. At the same time, the reinforcement for the mine bushings to prevent longitudinal capacitors from being discharged to ensure safe operation.
"All critical locations, isolating switch terminals, and pole shafts at the North-Central section of the PTC1 grid at the 500kV Vung Ang, Ha Tinh, and Nho Quan substations have been equipped with additional shafts to enhance current conduction and prevent heat generation..." - Mr. Khoi said.
Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh - Deputy Head of the Power System Department, Electricity Regulatory Authority requested the company to focus on implementing the plan that has been developed and organize 24/24h duty during the Lunar New Year, ensuring the power grid operates safely, stably and continuously. One of the solutions to ensure electricity in the dry season for the North, in the coming time, Vietnam will increase electricity imports from Laos and China.
Speaking at the meeting, the representative of the Department of Industrial Safety and Environment, Mr. Lo Long Van - Specialist of the Department of Electrical and Dam Safety, reminded the company about Directive No. 19/CT-TTg dated June 26, 2024 of the Prime Minister on strengthening fire prevention and fighting for multi-storey houses, multi-apartment houses, individual houses combined with production and business, in which the electricity industry is assigned a number of tasks on propaganda and guidance for people to use electricity safely. It is recommended that during the Lunar New Year, the company should strengthen the direction of power transmission to promote propaganda and guidance for people to use electricity safely...
At the meeting, the NSMO representative also informed about the plan to operate and regulate the national power system during the Lunar New Year and reminded the company of some high voltage nodes of the 500kV and 220kV grids. Thereby, the company was requested to review and promptly handle existing defects, ensuring the transmission grid related to purchasing electricity from Laos - these are also some important sources for peak power supply during the dry season in the North.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Trinh Quoc Vu - Deputy Director of the Electricity Regulatory Authority emphasized: In 2025, according to the power system operation plan approved by the Minister of Industry and Trade, the expected increase is about 12%, so the power grid will have to ensure electricity demand in difficult power supply conditions, this is a challenge for the unit. With the strong direction of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the electricity industry in 2024 successfully energized the 500kV line 3 Quang Trach - Pho Noi, contributing to reducing the pressure on electricity in the North.
Perform well the task of ensuring safe operation of the power grid, smooth transmission, minimizing the rate of grid incidents, especially during the dry season - a season considered to have many challenges for the electricity industry.
Mr. Trinh Quoc Vu affirmed that PTC1 is a unit with extensive experience in the field of power transmission, and that PTC1 has proactively had flexible solutions and plans to enhance the capacity of the transmission system.... However, the company is interested in promptly providing advice and proposals to the superior management agency to have methods to protect and stabilize the power system in all situations.
Mr. Trinh Quoc Vu highly appreciated the work of planning and preparing solutions to ensure safe, stable power supply and continuous transmission during the Lunar New Year, the dry season of 2025 in particular and the whole year in general.
With the current high volume of substations and power lines but the human resources have not changed much, it shows the qualitative change of the company in the new situation. This is the trend we need to promote in the coming years, as General Secretary To Lam affirmed - this is a new era, the era of applying science and technology and innovation in production and business activities.
Mr. Trinh Quoc Vu also noted that the company needs to strictly implement the established plan. Minimize repair operations.
