On the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2023), on the afternoon of April 28, at the Presidential Palace, President Vo Van Thuong had a friendly meeting with the delegation of the Liaison Committee of the Central Highlands Front B3 - Army Corps 3.
Expressing his joy at meeting veteran delegates, those who lived and fought on the resilient and indomitable Central Highlands with resounding victories, contributing with the entire Party, the entire army and the people of the whole country to complete the historic mission of liberating the South and unifying the country, President Vo Van Thuong sent his regards and kindness to the veterans, wounded soldiers and families of martyrs of the Central Highlands B3 front - Army Corps 3.
Referring to the great contributions of the cadres and soldiers on the Central Highlands B3 front - Army Corps 3 who did not spare their blood and youth, ready to sacrifice themselves for the country, President Vo Van Thuong affirmed the wisdom of the Party, the Central Military Commission - the General Command in assessing the situation, accurately determining the strategic position of the Central Highlands battlefield, from which, having the right policy to build a strong enough armed force to defeat the enemy. The Central Highlands armed forces fought in a key battlefield, with many difficulties, hardships, and fierceness, but were very resilient, brave, resourceful, creative, and continuously won victories of great strategic significance. Especially the Central Highlands campaign in 1975, opened up great opportunities, contributing to the Great Victory of Spring 1975.
The President congratulated the 3rd Army Corps - a Heroic Unit of the People's Armed Forces - for its outstanding achievements in combat and construction, which was awarded 3 Ho Chi Minh Medals; the Cambodian State awarded the Angkor Medal; 50 units and 45 individuals in the Corps were awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces. The President highly appreciated the dedication and contributions of veterans in the process of participating in socio-economic development and Party building in the locality.
The President stated that the more than 30-year-long national liberation war of our people under the leadership of the Party was a brilliant historical period in the cause of building and defending the country of our people. However, the pain and loss caused by the war still exist. In particular, the 3rd Army Corps had more than 40,000 officers and soldiers who heroically sacrificed their lives. The Party, the State and the people will forever remember the merits of the Heroes, Martyrs and Veterans, including the martyrs, wounded soldiers and veterans of the B3 Central Highlands Front - 3rd Army Corps.
The President was pleased to know that, with deep comradeship, over the years, the Liaison Committee of the Central Highlands Front B3 - Army Corps 3 has gathered veterans who fought in the Central Highlands, regularly organizing many practical activities; encouraging, visiting, sharing and helping each other in life; collecting information, searching for comrades who died whose remains have not been found yet; rewriting memories of a time of war; building monuments to pay tribute to those who fell for the cause of national liberation to educate the younger generations not to forget the sacrifices of their fathers and grandfathers.
In that spirit, the President hopes that the veterans of the B3 Central Highlands Front - Corps 3, regardless of the circumstances, will continue to promote the good qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers; the tradition of loyalty and indomitability of the Central Highlands soldiers, contributing to building an increasingly prosperous homeland and country. The veterans actively participate in preventing and combating corruption; resolutely fight against bad habits, vices, negative and backward things in society and their places of residence, actively contribute to building the Party and the government. Along with that, the veterans promote the spirit of "young people taking the lead, old people being exemplary", setting an example for their children and grandchildren, educating the younger generation on a beautiful and useful lifestyle; promoting loyal comradeship, mutual support and assistance in times of hardship and adversity, building a prosperous and happy life./.
