After 4 days of organizing the "Ho Chi Minh City Cyber Security Drill 2023", on the afternoon of December 30, at Quang Trung Software Park (District 12), the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City held a closing ceremony.

The teams will carry out combat missions to prevent ransomware attacks via compromised websites; combat operations to prevent remote code execution from Fortinet devices via heap-based buffer overflow vulnerabilities; and combat operations to prevent attacks via public wifi access points.
During the 4-day exercise, the teams discovered about 41 security-related errors on the Socio-Economic Information Synthesis System and the Information Receiving and Answering Portal for citizens, businesses and organizations in Ho Chi Minh City. The city also promptly handled and fixed errors to ensure information security on these two systems.
The representative of the organizing committee said that ensuring network information security is an important task in the digital transformation process of Ho Chi Minh City - the economic, financial, commercial and service center of the whole country.

According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Nguyen, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Cyber Emergency Response Center, the live drill was conducted on a real system to assess the teams' ability to detect and respond to incidents. The program helps improve the capacity and skills to detect and handle incidents, promptly detect weaknesses in people, technology, processes, etc. of information systems in Ho Chi Minh City. In addition, the team of specialized staff also has their awareness raised and their information security skills improved to handle incidents promptly when they occur.
The organizing committee awarded the first prize to the team of GalaxyOne Company Limited; the second prize went to the team of DTG Technology Joint Stock Company. The third prize went to the teams of Center 286 (Command 86) and the Cyber Security Center (Ho Chi Minh City University of Information Technology).
According to data from the Vietnam Cyber Emergency Response Center, as of December 2023, there were 13,900 attacks on systems in Vietnam, an increase of 9.5% over the same period in 2022. Currently, in Vietnam, there are 3 main forms of attacks: fraud, vulnerabilities from platforms and security errors from websites. Organizations and businesses in the fields of healthcare, finance and retail have become the main targets of cyber attackers.
In 2023, most provinces, cities, ministries and branches will carry out drills and 3 large-scale national drill programs, detecting and handling more than 400 vulnerabilities in the systems of agencies and organizations.
