On February 18, on the occasion of the 923rd anniversary of the birth of the famous person To Hien Thanh, at the national relic Van Hien Temple (Ha Mo commune, Dan Phuong district, Hanoi), the announcement and release of the book series "Co Kim Truyen Luc" took place.
The book is a collection of about 500 poems and prose, composed in the year of Dinh Mui (1907) by Confucian scholars in Ha Mo commune.
"Ancient and Modern Traditions" is written in many different genres, such as: Poetry, Dialogue, Teaching, Praise, Ca, Lu, Thi, Bieu... Many poems in the Tang Dynasty style have reached a high level, especially the "hoi van cach" style, which means reading from bottom to top while still maintaining the correct rhyme and rhythm, the first line is often repeated in the last line.

The content of most of the compositions exudes patriotism, praises the merits of national heroes, ancestors, and educates children... Some of the songs encourage the spirit of struggle or find words to explain about human nature, fate, and opportunities to do useful things for life.
According to Mr. Bui Tat Them, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Mo commune, at the end of 1907, to avoid the control of the French colonial government, the Confucian scholars in the village cleverly used the "dong giang but" ceremony at Hai Giac pagoda to borrow the words of the Saint to announce their compositions. After that, the compositions were carved into woodblocks at Van Hien temple in 1908.
Printed books were distributed to every household and given away as gifts in many places with the aim of “Thu lai dia dia, tuyen dung van vu” (Books go everywhere, propagate everywhere). In 1930, the French colonialists sent their henchmen to confiscate the woodblocks and many books circulating in the village. With their cleverness, the people of Ha Mo fought back and got back the woodblocks and several sets of books.
Currently, the National Library of Vietnam and the Institute of Han Nom Studies are storing 4 volumes of Chinese characters from the book series “Co Kim Truyen Luc”. The book series has been included in the “Project to digitize the ancient Han Nom literature treasure”.
In 2015, Ha Mo commune launched a project to translate the book series “Co Kim Truyen Luc” and Chinese texts at historical sites in the commune. After that, the translation of 4 volumes of the book series “Co Kim Truyen Luc” was organized to translate, edit and publish.
