Officially launched in November 2024, after more than 1 month of launching, the organizing committee has received nearly 200 works in the genres of radio/television, photo reports, and articles in print and online newspapers from more than 100 journalists from 27 newspapers and radio stations in Ho Chi Minh City and nationwide.

In general, the entries for the 2024 season are all of high quality, clearly and comprehensively reflecting the context of tourism activities in the City as well as the whole country. In particular, there are many series of articles with in-depth discussion, analysis, contributions of opinions and solutions from leading experts that have been objectively recognized by reporters and editors, opening up new perspectives in improving the efficiency of the tourism industry to truly become one of the spearheads of the economy.
Mr. Duong Vu Thong - Permanent Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association, Head of the Award's Jury, commented that despite many difficulties in the past, the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Journalism Award still received the attention and support of journalists not only in Ho Chi Minh City but also nationwide. This was demonstrated through the relatively large number of entries submitted to the contest, exceeding the expectations of the organizing committee.
In addition to quantity, the quality of articles has also been improved. “Reporters and editors have devoted much effort to researching and discovering important issues, contributing to promoting the development of tourism in Ho Chi Minh City in particular and the whole country in general. Many works not only honor the achievements of the tourism industry but also provide practical solutions and recommendations to overcome difficulties, creating momentum for the development of Vietnam tourism,” Mr. Duong Vu Thong emphasized.

As an annual award to honor the team of journalists specializing in tourism in Ho Chi Minh City, each time it is held, the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Journalism Award brings to those working in the tourism industry many new materials, from which, it forms a basis for research, construction and development of new tourism products to meet practical needs.
Not only reflecting the current status quo in the way tourism is operated in the City, this year's entries have pointed out the unanswered questions in sustainable tourism development, or how to fully develop waterway tourism and take advantage of available resources in the suburbs to promote rural tourism. In particular, there is also a series of articles analyzing the deep-rooted issues that need to be resolved in the digital transformation and "greening" of the tourism industry in Ho Chi Minh City.
The 2024 Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Journalism Awards include three categories: Radio - Television, Print - Electronic Newspaper and Photo Reportage. Each category includes the following awards: 1 First Prize (total value of 15 million VND including cash and gifts), 1 Second Prize (total value of 10 million VND including cash and gifts), 1 Third Prize (total value of 7 million VND including cash and gifts), 3 Encouragement Prizes (total value of 5 million VND including cash and gifts).
