In order for Hue University to expand its training scale in Quang Tri province, towards establishing a Technical University in Quang Tri province, promoting the socio-economic development of Quang Tri province, on August 24, 2009, the Ministry of Education and Training issued Decision No. 5436/QD-BGDDT approving the Investment Project to build a Hue University Branch in Quang Tri with a total investment of more than 256 billion VND. The project will be implemented from 2010 to 2015.

The project is invested by Hue University, Vietnam Construction Consulting Corporation - Ministry of Construction is the project consultant and is built in Dong Ha City with the following items: 5-storey classroom building; 4-storey library building; 3-storey principal - faculty building; 650-seat, 1-storey auditorium; 2 dormitories with a scale of 2,078 students, each 5-storey; 3-storey cafeteria, clubhouse and many auxiliary items. Currently, Hue University Branch in Quang Tri has 3 real estate facilities. The facility on Dien Bien Phu Street is the largest with 4 buildings located on a campus of nearly 17 hectares.

The real estate facility at 133 Ly Thuong Kiet, Dong Ha City of Hue University Branch has 3 houses located on an area of ​​8,372m2 including a 3-storey cafeteria - clubhouse, a 5-storey classroom building and a 2-storey office building. Currently, the 5-storey school building at 133 Ly Thuong Kiet is being lent by Hue University Branch to Dong Ha City People's Committee as its office. The reason is that Dong Ha City People's Committee is building a new office.

Some items in the 5-storey classroom building with an area of ​​6,887 m2 at the Dien Bien Phu street campus are degraded. Most of the classrooms in this building are rarely used.

Having been little used for a long time, many items of Hue University Branch in Quang Tri have deteriorated, causing waste of investment resources.

However, to date, this plan has not yet become a reality. However, this plan has not been implemented yet.

With the current facilities, the people of Quang Tri province believe that only repairing and upgrading the facilities of Hue University Branch will meet the teaching and learning needs when moving the National Defense and Security Education Center of Hue University from Thua Thien - Hue province to Quang Tri province.
