PepsiCo spends more than 2,000 billion VND to build snack factory in Ha Nam

PepsiCo Foods Vietnam Company Limited (PepsiCo Foods Vietnam) has just officially started construction of a new factory on an area of ​​8 hectares in the Dong Van I Industrial Park Expansion (Duy Tien town, Ha Nam province). This is the second factory of the owner of the Lay's potato snack brand in Vietnam.

The company said it will invest nearly 90 million USD, equivalent to more than 2,000 billion VND, in building and operating this factory. The factory is expected to be operational in July 2025 and supply more than 20,000 tons of various snacks annually.

Speaking with Dan Tri reporter, Mr. Nguyen Viet Ha, General Director of PepsiCo Foods Vietnam, said that with PepsiCo Ha Nam factory, the company has applied sustainable development policy from the very first days.

"The company uses 100% renewable energy to significantly reduce carbon emissions and minimize environmental impacts. This includes using local agricultural waste to generate electricity and installing solar panels on the roof," said Mr. Ha. PepsiCo Foods leaders also affirmed that they will support Vietnamese farmers in applying sustainable agricultural practices.

Sharing more about the implementation of the group's ESG targets, Mr. Sudipto Mozumdar, General Director of PepsiCo Foods Indochina, said that over the past few years, the group has been implementing the global PepsiCo Positive (pep+) strategy towards achieving 100% sustainable supply and promoting regenerative agriculture by 2030.

"The company's pep+ strategy includes three standards: Environment, Social and Governance," he emphasized.

According to Mr. Sudipto Mozumdar, the group is an agricultural development enterprise, in which the enterprise focuses on promoting regenerative agriculture. Not only focusing on production and business but also focusing on improving the quality of life of farmers.

"In addition, the company also implements positive value chains such as saving water resources, applying biomass technology to generate energy without harming the environment, using solar panels to reduce greenhouse gas emissions... That is proof of the group's commitment to ESG," he cited.

In addition, he emphasized that the pep+ strategy including ESG standards is a core, central strategy of the group to help businesses survive and develop, not just a formality.
