At ASIAD 19, Southeast Asian football has 4 representatives including Olympic Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and Myanmar.
Vietnam Olympic stopped after the group stage of ASIAD 19.
Among these, Olympic Vietnam was the team eliminated the earliest when it stopped right after the group stage.
Three other representatives, Olympic Thailand, Indonesia and Myanmar, have entered the round of 16.
But after this round, all three teams had to stop and the men's football event of ASIAD 19 officially had no representatives from Southeast Asia.
This is also the first time in 29 years that no Southeast Asian team has reached the quarter-finals of the ASIAD. The last time the same thing happened was at the 1994 ASIAD.
Since then, Southeast Asia has always had at least one representative in the quarterfinals. Specifically, Thailand reached the semi-finals in 1998, 2002, 2014, the quarter-finals in 2006, 2010 and Vietnam reached the semi-finals at the 18th ASIAD.
Returning to the round of 16 of the 19th ASIAD, despite playing very resiliently and dragging the opponent into extra time, Olympic Indonesia still lost 0-2 to Uzbekistan.
Thailand Olympic team lost 0-2 to the overmatched opponent Iran. Myanmar Olympic team was even crushed by Japan 0-7.
