On March 8, according to information obtained by Dan Viet, Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong - Chairman of Bao Loc City People's Committee sent a document requesting the Director of Lam Dong Provincial Police to support a water transport vehicle, a specialized vehicle for fire fighting, to transport water to serve people in Loc Chau and Dai Lao communes of the city due to drought leading to a lack of domestic water.

According to the People's Committee of Bao Loc City, it is currently the dry season, some communes in Bao Loc City such as Dai Lao and Loc Chau are lacking domestic water because the water source used by people from the system of drilled wells and dug wells has dried up. However, these areas do not have a clean water supply system from the Bao Loc City Water Plant.

Currently, in Dai Lao and Loc Chau communes, hundreds of households are lacking domestic water due to the depletion of water from drilled and dug wells.

To solve the above urgent situation and provide domestic water for people in Loc Chau and Dai Lao communes, Bao Loc City People's Committee has worked with Bao Loc Water Supply and Construction Joint Stock Company and agreed to supply water from the Factory to serve the people. However, the city currently does not have specialized vehicles to transport water from the water intake point to the water tank area in the communes, so it must request support from Lam Dong Provincial Police.

According to the reporter, in villages 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 of Dai Lao commune, there are more than 300 households suffering from a lack of domestic water. People in these villages mainly use water from dug wells and drilled wells. However, the lack of rain in the past few months has made the shortage of domestic water more serious.

People in Dai Lao commune have to buy water at 100,000 VND per cubic meter for daily use.

Speaking to reporters, Ms. Le Thi Tra (a resident of Village 3, Dai Lao Commune) said that her family uses water from a dug well for daily activities, but the well has run out of water since January. Currently, her family has to buy water for daily activities at a price of 100,000 VND/cubic meter. In 1 month, her family has to buy about 13 cubic meters of water to be enough for 4 people to use.

Mr. Nguyen Van Ngoc - Head of Village 3, Dai Lao Commune said that out of the 400 households in the village, more than 150 households are currently lacking water for daily use. Households lacking water for daily use are using water from dug wells. The way for people to overcome this is to buy water or ask for water from families using drilled wells. Therefore, people are looking forward to a project to bring clean water to the village to solve the water shortage in recent times.

The main source of water for people's daily life is water from drilled wells and dug wells.

According to Mr. Than Nguyen Vinh Thang - Chairman of Dai Lao Commune People's Committee, by the end of February 2024, Dai Lao Commune had more than 300 households lacking domestic water. The above situation is concentrated in households living along National Highway 20. Dai Lao Commune is also conducting specific statistics on the number of households lacking water to report and propose to Bao Loc City People's Committee to have a plan to provide domestic water for people.

It is known that in 2021, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lam Dong province implemented the Rural Clean Water Supply Project for people in Dai Lao and Loc Chau communes.

The project's capital is nearly VND 26.5 billion from a loan from the World Bank (WB21). It is expected that the project will bring water to the above two communes for about 2,000 households in 2022. However, up to now, due to many locations and construction items not ensuring water supply, people in Dai Lao and Loc Chau are still "thirsty" every time the dry season comes.
