An Qi, a student from Wugang City, Hunan Province, China, studied for a master's degree in finance in Australia. After graduating, her parents expected her to find a stable office job with a high salary like many other young people. However, the young girl did not want to live according to the familiar mold, according to China.org.
From financial student to goose farmer
Seeing the booming development of the high-quality agricultural market in China, An Qi decided to return to her hometown to start a business. After careful research, she found that the Wugang local specialty goose breed, although valuable, had not yet been developed for large-scale farming. This was because the egg production of this goose breed was low, only about 30 eggs/year - much lower than other goose breeds that could reach 50-100 eggs.

An Ky believes that if she finds a way to optimize the farming model, she can not only fully exploit the potential of this goose breed but also create huge economic value for her hometown.
In 2019, An Qi officially started raising geese in her hometown. She started with an investment of 1 million yuan (about 3.4 billion VND) from her father. Her father owns a feed factory.
Not only raising geese using traditional methods, An Ky boldly proposed a "full-season raising" model, which means adjusting the time and environmental conditions so that geese can lay eggs all year round.
However, the initial experiment did not go smoothly. With 200 female geese, the farm only produced a little over 40 eggs after several months. Undaunted, An Qi invited experts to guide her. After making adjustments, she built six goose farms to high standards.
By the end of 2020, An Qi had harvested more than 30,000 eggs from 1,200 geese. She also invested in an incubator to supply breeding geese to the market, bringing in more than 1 million yuan in revenue each year. At the same time, she also cooperated with a processing factory to develop roast goose products and distribute them nationwide.
Currently, the annual revenue from goose and egg products of An Ky enterprise has exceeded 20 million yuan/year (more than 69.8 billion VND).
Help 700 households escape poverty
Previously, YCWB News reported that 26-year-old female student Vuong Mieu in Henan province (China) graduated from the University of Alberta (Canada) and then completed a master's program at the City University of Hong Kong.
After graduating, she gave up the opportunity to work in the city, determined to return to her hometown, do farming and raise geese.

This choice surprised many people, even made them skeptical. However, Vuong Mieu proved that true value does not lie in the reputation of the working environment but in the ability to devote oneself and create sustainable value.
Applying the financial and management knowledge learned from abroad, she not only improved livestock farming efficiency but also boosted the local economy.
To promote her hometown products, she often takes advantage of her English ability, organizing livestreams to sell agricultural products right in the fields.
To date, the efforts of Vuong Mieu and his team have helped more than 700 households in his hometown escape poverty, creating jobs for more than 1,000 women staying in rural areas, with an annual revenue equivalent to nearly 70 billion VND.
The success of An Ky and Vuong Mieu shows that the countryside is not only a place to return to but also a land of great potential for many young people in the country of a billion people. With faith and creativity, extraordinary things can be created on the homeland, creating sustainable livelihoods for the villagers.
