Female student beaten by gang leads to "concussion, coughing up blood"

On April 20, Ms. Tran Thi No (45 years old, from Tan Dai hamlet, Tan Tap commune, Can Giuoc district, Long An, temporarily residing in Quan Nam 4 village, Hoa Lien commune, Hoa Vang district, Da Nang city) said that her family had just submitted a petition to the People's Committee of Hoa Son commune, Hoa Son commune police, and the Board of Directors of Tran Quang Khai Secondary School (Hoa Vang district) requesting an investigation and handling of the case of her daughter being beaten by a group of people, causing serious injuries.

Responding to Thanh Nien Newspaper reporters, Ms. No said that at 7:00 p.m. on April 11, her daughter Nguyen Thi Nhu T. (12 years old, 6th grade student at Tran Quang Khai Secondary School) was at home when P.Th. (a 7th grade female student at Tran Quang Khai Secondary School) came and invited her to go out. On the way, when they reached Phu Thuong Church (Hoa Son Commune), Nhu T. was brutally beaten by P.Th and other female students PT (7th grade, expelled from school), MH (8th grade, same school).

"The entire incident was recorded by another 7th grade student using a phone. After the incident, my daughter returned home but did not tell her family because she was threatened that if she did, the other group would continue to beat her," said Ms. No.

Nguyen Thi Nhu T. (12 years old, 6th grade student at Tran Quang Khai Secondary School) was beaten by a group of people.

Ms. No said: "After being beaten, I saw my child coughing up blood, having a stomachache, nausea, delirium, and a swollen head, so my family took him to Da Nang Hospital for examination and admitted him to the Neurosurgery Department for monitoring."

On the afternoon of April 19, Nhu T. was discharged from Da Nang Hospital to continue monitoring at home with a diagnosis of "concussion".

In the clip, which is over 1 minute long, provided by Ms. No, Nhu T. was dragged across the concrete floor by a female student who grabbed her hair and continuously kicked her. Being beaten up, the female student could only endure the beating, not daring to resist. Another female student came and tried to take off Nhu T.'s shirt but failed. After that, the group left the scene, leaving the victim sitting in the middle of the road.

According to Ms. No, her daughter was repeatedly bullied and beaten by 7th and 8th graders at Tran Quang Khai Secondary School. However, due to lack of evidence, the family did not file a complaint to the authorities. The family was very worried because the daughter's mentality was unstable after the incident, she often talked to herself, and appeared angry...

"The family really hopes that the authorities will intervene and take strong deterrent measures against the group that brutally beat my daughter," Ms. No was indignant.

Individual cases, many times handled by the police

Regarding the incident, the leader of Hoa Son Commune Police (Hoa Vang District) said that on April 17, the Commune Police summoned the female students who beat Nhu T. to work. According to this person, the two people who beat Nhu T. are sisters (whose parents are divorced and currently live with their grandmother) who have violated the law and have been disciplined by the Commune Police many times. This is an isolated case in the locality.

"As soon as we received the information, the Commune Police stepped in to verify and summon those involved to work, deter, educate and hand them over to their families and local organizations for management," informed the leader of Hoa Son Commune Police.

On April 20, Mr. Le Van Hoang, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Hoa Vang District, said that immediately after the incident, the Department of Education and Training requested the Board of Directors of Tran Quang Khai Secondary School to report the incident, and at the same time sent teachers to the house to visit and encourage the student who was beaten by a group.

"Because the subjects who beat the female student are now absent from school, the Department of Education and Training has requested the police to handle this subject. As for student Nhu T., her mental health has stabilized and she returned to school this morning, April 20," Mr. Hoang informed.
