This skill is considered a special discovery for the Vietnamese stage, pioneered by the Institute's Director, People's Artist Bach Tuyet. She made her mark in 1992 when she debuted Solo Performance, by author Le Duy Hanh, at stage 5B.
The Cai Luong Academy has People's Artist, Doctor of Arts Bach Tuyet as its Director, along with Cai Luong artists Chau Thanh, Thanh Hang and "musician" - musician, People's Artist Thanh Hai.
To perform solo, the artist must synthesize all skills: singing, acting, expressing emotions, dancing... That is also what the contestants have been trained in throughout the journey. In addition to integrating skills, how to attract and captivate the audience when performing alone is considered a big challenge for the artist.
According to People's Artist Bach Tuyet, to perform a solo, one must have internal strength and practice continuously to be confident and not be distracted. In addition to integrating into the character, one must maintain a clear mind and personal objectivity to guide the characters in the right direction.
"Focusing on studying is the most important thing," said People's Artist Bach Tuyet. For an artist to be able to play many roles at the same time, they must find the character's unique characteristics and act out their qualities.

Another problem is that when there is no co-star, the actor can easily "break" his emotions if he acts alone. People's Artist Bach Tuyet believes that it is necessary to create tight links in the work and remember them. She emphasizes that the first thing is to have a good singing voice. People's Artist Thanh Hai believes that good music and good musical sense also create conditions for artists to perform better roles.
Recalling the memory of more than 30 years ago when she released Solo Play, People's Artist Bach Tuyet said that this was an interesting challenge. According to her, if an artist is distracted for just 1 second, or has eyes darting around on stage, it will immediately break the audience's emotions, leading to failure.
Artists must love people, life, beauty, country... to fulfill their duties as actors. It is not easy to do something new and have it accepted. "In fact, it is extremely difficult, requiring artists and actors to be persistent. It is always difficult to reach the public with something new. Because when people do not understand, they do not love, there are negative comments, and there are even unexpected insults.
But in my opinion, when doing something new, first of all, make yourself happy, especially when those things help people become better, closer together, and live happier. If you have the heart to do something good, why should you be afraid? Walking on a new path that you open yourself will certainly be very lonely. But when that new thing is accompanied and accepted by the audience, there is no greater happiness. That is the reason why until now I still want new things. Life is limited, so why wait instead of actively exploring it," People's Artist Bach Tuyet confided.
According to People's Artist Bach Tuyet, to have a successful solo play, there must be the following elements: good artist, good author, good musician, good director. Remembering her solo performance, she feels grateful to author Le Duy Hanh, director Nguyen Hong Phuc, Dr. Quang Hai, and painter People's Artist Luong Dong.
She practiced this play for 2 months. The play lasted 1 hour and 10 minutes, but each time she practiced, she practiced for 3 hours and 30 minutes continuously, which helped her overcome many shortcomings, such as panting while talking continuously... After finishing practicing, she invited Professor Hoang Nhu Mai, painter Trinh Cung, musician Trinh Cong Son, Meritorious Artist Le Thien... to come and watch the play, without makeup or costumes... After that, everyone agreed that this play should be brought to the public because it was both unique and beautiful, with many meaningful messages for the times.
After the training session, the top 10 of the Cai Luong Academy will compete in solo performances. The jury is expected to select the top 4 to enter the final night, competing for the highest positions./.
