Quite stable
According to the financial reports of 27 commercial banks in the third quarter, nearly 10 banks reduced the average income (including salary and allowances) of employees compared to the same period last year as well as the average of the first 6 months of the year.
Some banks have significantly improved employee income such as SHB, VietinBank, Techcombank, NCB, BVBank.
Notably, the average income of Techcombank employees is still the dream of bankers in particular and workers in general.
Although the total salary fund in the first 9 months of this year decreased by more than 100 billion VND compared to the same period, the average monthly income of Techcombank employees increased by 1 million VND compared to the same period last year and the first 6 months of this year.
Currently, the average income of Techcombank employees still leads the entire banking industry with 45 million VND/person/month.
Of which, the average salary is 38 million VND/month, the rest is considered "other income".
Coming in second is MB Bank, with the average employee income in the first 9 months of this year being 39.83 million VND/person/month, a slight decrease compared to the average in the first 6 months of the year.
Vietcombank ranked third in terms of employee benefits, with an average employee income of VND37.5 million/person/month, almost unchanged compared to the average of the first 6 months of the year.
Although the average income of TPBank employees decreased by 2 million VND/month compared to the average of the first 6 months of the year, it still ranked fourth in the industry, with 36.5 million VND/month.
Meanwhile, the average income of VietinBank employees increased by VND2 million compared to the average of the first 6 months of the year, reaching VND33.5 million, ranking fifth among 28 banks that have announced financial reports.
It is very likely that VietinBank will still maintain its 5th position even when Agribank announces its 3rd quarter financial report (average 6-month income of Agribank employees is 29 million VND/month).
Behind VietinBank are a series of banks paying salaries and allowances to employees at 32 million VND/month, including MSB, VIB, BIDV and VPBank.
Notably, at VPBank, the bank spent more than VND3,600 billion on salaries and bonuses for employees in the first 9 months of the year. This figure increased sharply compared to the VND2,800 billion spent in the same period in 2022.
Therefore, the average total income of VPBank employees also increased from 29 million VND/month to 32 million VND/month. Of which, the average salary alone is 31 million VND/month.
SHB is also one of the banks that spends a lot on employees, with the average total expenditure per employee reaching 45.95 million VND/month.
However, as always, the characteristic of this bank is that it does not separate salary and allowance levels like other banks.
Instead, SHB combines it with salary-based expenses such as social insurance, health insurance, unemployment insurance, and other allowances.
SHB is also the only one that does not publish specific figures, so the calculation of the average income of SHB employees is only at a relative level.
Meanwhile, the big BIDV spent an additional VND1,000 billion compared to the same period last year on salaries and allowances for employees (up to VND7,500 billion). Therefore, the average income of employees also increased by VND4 million/month compared to the same period last year, reaching VND32 million/month.
However, the average income of the first 9 months decreased slightly by about 500,000 VND/month compared to the average income of the first 6 months of this year.
At VIB, the average income of each employee is currently 32.24 million VND/month, an increase of more than 2 million VND/month compared to the average income of the first 9 months of 2022.
Notably, of this total income, only 21.64 million VND is salary, the rest is calculated as allowances and other income.
With an average income of 23.6 million VND/month, the average income of NCB Bank employees also increased by about 5 million VND compared to the same period last year, and increased by about 3 million VND compared to the average of the first 6 months of this year.
Among the banks with the lowest salaries, ACB is notable (13 million VND/month), the average income of employees at ACB has not changed compared to the first 6 months of the year.
At Sacombank, the average income of employees decreased by about 1 million VND compared to the same period. In the first 9 months of this year, each employee working for the bank, chaired by Mr. Duong Cong Minh, received 29 million VND/month.
Sacombank's executive remuneration skyrockets
Although shareholders have not received dividends for many years and employee income has decreased, the remuneration of Sacombank's leaders has skyrocketed.
Accordingly, the after-tax remuneration of Sacombank's Board of Directors in the first 9 months of this year was VND22.46 billion (an increase of VND4.5 billion over the same period). Thus, the average income of each member of Sacombank's Board of Directors is VND277 million/month.
Even the after-tax remuneration of the 4-member Supervisory Board was up to VND 11,263 billion (an increase of VND 3.77 billion over the same period), equivalent to an average remuneration of VND 312 million/person/month.

Sacombank is also very generous in paying remuneration to the Board of Directors when the after-tax remuneration of the Board of Directors in the past 9 months was VND 55,646 billion (an increase of VND 6.63 billion over the same period).
Thus, the average income of CEO Nguyen Duc Thach Diem and Deputy CEOs is up to 513 million VND/person/month.
Meanwhile, LPBank slightly increased the average income of employees but sharply reduced the remuneration of the Board of Directors. Meanwhile, the remuneration for the Board of Supervisors and the Executive Board also increased sharply compared to the same period last year.
Specifically, LPBank has spent VND6,772 billion in remuneration for the Board of Directors in the past 9 months, down nearly 50% compared to the same period last year. On average, Chairman of the Board of Directors Nguyen Duc Thuy and members of the Board of Directors received remuneration of VND107 million/person/month.
The remuneration paid to the Board of Supervisors in the first 9 months of the year was 2.68 billion VND (a sharp increase of 217% over the same period). The average income of each member of the Board of Supervisors is 75 million VND/month.
Notably, each member of LPBank's Board of Directors received an average of about VND90 million/month in the first 9 months of the year after the bank spent approximately VND13 billion, an increase of 233% over the same period.
