That was the affirmation of Mr. Choi Joo Ho, General Director of Samsung Vietnam Complex, at the Multilateral Forum (MSF) 2024 with the theme "Developing People and Technology towards a digitally inclusive Vietnam".

The forum was recently organized by Samsung Vietnam in collaboration with the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the National Innovation Center (NIC) in Hanoi with the goal of promoting the digital inclusive vision: "A digitalized Vietnam, where technology serves everyone's life", ensuring that no one is left behind.

Vietnam is facing an opportunity that cannot be missed.

Speaking to nearly 200 delegates attending in person and more than 350 delegates attending online, Mr. Choi Joo Ho emphasized: "Vietnam, with a dynamic and creative vision, is quickly seizing the opportunity to become a leading digital nation.

In this context, Samsung has also had in-depth discussions with Vietnamese government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and stakeholders on the unmissable opportunities in building a digitally inclusive society.

Samsung always hopes for a digitally inclusive society in Vietnam - where everyone has the opportunity to participate and develop with digital transformation."

"We will make every effort to enhance Vietnam's position through many creative ideas, aiming to turn Vietnam into a digital society," the general director of Samsung Vietnam Complex emphasized.

It is known that the goal of the MSF 2024 forum is to promote multilateral cooperation and innovation through technological solutions to expand access, narrow the digital divide, and unleash human potential, especially for disadvantaged and vulnerable groups.

"The multilateral forum is a meaningful opportunity for Samsung to enhance mutual understanding with Vietnamese government agencies, organizations, academia and international organizations in Vietnam. This is also an opportunity to seek solutions to important economic and social challenges in Vietnam" - General Director of Samsung Vietnam Complex shared.

According to Mr. Choi Joo Ho, Vietnam, with a dynamic and creative vision, is quickly seizing the opportunity to become a leading digital nation. Vietnam's digital transformation strategy focuses on three main pillars: digital economy, digital government and digital society, promising to change many aspects of the country.

"However, digital transformation only truly brings progress to society when everyone, especially vulnerable communities, can access and use advanced technology. Digital inclusion is the foundation for Vietnam to become a prosperous, equitable and sustainable country, and Samsung always supports efforts to realize this vision," Mr. Choi Joo Ho pledged.

"In the coming time, Samsung will also continuously deploy multilateral forums and make efforts for the cooperation and development of partners in particular and Vietnamese society in general."

Harnessing technology to bridge the digital divide

Speaking at the forum, Mr. Tran Quoc Phuong, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment, acknowledged: "To achieve the goal of the National Strategy for Digital Economy and Digital Society Development: by 2030, digital skills will be universalized for all classes in society, the rate of people of working age trained in basic digital skills reaching over 70% is a huge challenge.

What is worrying is that there is still a large part of society that does not have access to digital technology, such as the elderly, people with disabilities, children in remote areas or people in difficult circumstances who still face many barriers in using digital technology.

Mr. Tran Quoc Phuong, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment, emphasized the need to create a favorable learning environment and provide digital technology tools for disadvantaged groups.

According to Mr. Phuong, by creating a favorable learning environment and providing necessary tools, we can help people with disabilities, workers, and people in remote areas integrate into the digital society and enjoy the benefits that digital technology brings."

Increasing opportunities and access for disadvantaged and vulnerable groups, and reducing inequality through technology were the topics that many famous speakers shared their opinions on at the forum, discussing how to promote digital inclusion through human development and technology.

In particular, Associate Professor Dr. Le Hoang Son, Vice President of the Institute of Information Technology (VNU-Hanoi), made five recommendations including: Developing online learning platforms; promoting public data sharing through open data portals; developing digital infrastructure and technology, especially in rural areas, to reduce technology access gaps; public-private partnerships (PPP); implementing digital skills training for disadvantaged groups, helping them easily access technology and online services, and encouraging the application of AI and data science in public services, education, health, and agriculture.

Sharing about what Samsung has been doing to bridge the technology gap, Mr. Choi Joo Ho said: "For Samsung, digital inclusion is not just about providing support, but we also create a digital ecosystem where everyone can access and easily use the technologies within it."

"We believe that developing manufacturing technology is important, but equally important, and in line with today's theme, is promoting digital inclusion and digital access in Vietnam. Therefore, we are making efforts to enhance digital skills training for the future generation of Vietnam," explained Mr. Kim Yong Sup, Deputy General Director of Samsung Vietnam Complex.

"We believe that the future generation will adapt very quickly to new digital technologies. Since the speed of adaptation of the future generation will be very high, and they are also the new trendsetters, we will provide them with tools and support to create a digital ecosystem by building a dynamic and digital-driven community.

This will contribute to the development of Vietnam. That is why Samsung is focusing on digital skills education for the future generation of Vietnam, so that young people and disadvantaged groups in Vietnam can confidently use digital skills in today's digitally inclusive society."

Mr. Kim Yong Sup, Deputy General Director of Samsung Vietnam Complex

Regarding narrowing the digital gap for groups with less access to new technology, Mr. Kim Yong Sup said: "Samsung has always pursued the vision of 'people connecting technology, creating the future', so we will continue to contribute to narrowing the digital gap through various practical activities."

Specifically, Samsung is making efforts to support disadvantaged groups through various digital skills training programs such as Solve for Tomorrow, School of Hope, Samsung Innovation Campus, providing free technology tools to these groups.

"I believe that the true value of technology lies in its ability to empower, inspire, connect people and make dreams come true for everyone, regardless of background or geographical location," Choi Joo Ho, general director of Samsung Vietnam Complex, expressed his hope.

"Let's envision a future where digital technology becomes a powerful catalyst for change, creating opportunities for growth and innovation, realizing the hopes of every Vietnamese citizen. Together, let's create an inclusive, sustainable, human-centered digital future."
