Clean water from the well of love
For Mi Mai, a resident of Buôn Ken Nhỏ hamlet (Ea Bá commune), this year is a year full of joy as his family welcomes clean water. After more than 30 years of settling in Buôn Ken Nhỏ hamlet, although life has changed a lot thanks to the State's support policies, the scarcity of domestic water is still a persistent concern. Mi Mai said: "Since having clean water, I feel that life is much less difficult. Now, when I come home from work, there is water available in the house, no longer having to go kilometers to get water or bathe in the river or stream; I am so excited!"
Not only providing abundant water, the Well of Love project also helps improve people's health. Mr. KSor Y Ho, a resident of the village, excitedly expressed: "Before, every day, people went to Song Ba Lake to bathe and collect water by the can. However, because they had to use water from rivers and streams, which was not hygienic, many people in the village, especially women and children, often suffered from digestive and skin diseases. Now that there is clean water, people feel more secure in their daily lives. With a water project like this, everyone is happy."
Mr. Nay Y Noh, Head of Ken village, said: Ken Nho Hamlet belongs to Ken village, has 5 households with 37 people, all of whom are Ede ethnic people. People in Ken Nho Hamlet have faced many challenges due to the difficult terrain as well as the arid climate, and lack of domestic water for many years. Previously, the local government supported people to dig wells for domestic water, but due to the thick layer of boulders, the wells were not deep enough, so they often ran out of water in the dry season. In recent years, households in the hamlet have struggled to get water from far away areas, greatly affecting their daily life and production. Up to now, thanks to the efforts of Mr. Le Quyet Tien, former Chief of Ea Ba Commune Police, and the support of benefactors, the Charity Well project has been completed with a budget of 77 million VND, completely solving the problem of providing clean water for households in Ken Nho Hamlet. The project is designed with a depth that ensures water all year round, along with a system of pumps, tanks and pipes, ensuring clean water is delivered to every household.
Creating conditions for economic development
Ken Nay Y Noh, head of Ken village, added: In recent years, thanks to the drastic implementation of national target programs, many households in Ken village have received capital support for cattle raising and business development. However, in Ken Nho village, the lack of clean water not only causes many difficulties in daily life, but also greatly limits the need for people to develop crops and livestock. This is one of the reasons why the lives of households in Ken Nho village are difficult all year round. Currently, with a stable water system, households have the conditions to expand production, raise more livestock and poultry, contributing to increasing income and improving life.
With the joy of clean water, the lives of the people of Buôn Ken Nhỏ hamlet will certainly turn a new page. These positive changes are clear evidence of the attention of the Party, the State, organizations and philanthropists in supporting people in difficult areas, aiming for a brighter future for the ethnic minority community in Song Hinh district.
Mr. Nay Y Son, Chairman of Ea Ba Commune People's Committee
To ensure the long-term and effective operation of the project, the Ken village chief has established a management and supervision team for the Love Well project in the Ken Nho village. This team will carry out the management, maintenance, and periodic maintenance of the project; avoiding damage, deterioration, and waste of supported funds. At the same time, the locality also promotes and encourages people to use water economically and effectively to avoid wasting clean water resources.
According to Mr. Nay Y Son, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ea Ba Commune, in Buôn Ken Nhỏ hamlet, the shortage of domestic water has been going on for many years. The local government is very concerned and looking for many ways to solve this problem. While waiting for funding support from higher levels, we have mobilized benefactors and donors inside and outside the province to support and bring clean water to the people soon. The inauguration of the clean water project in Buôn Ken Nhỏ hamlet is a bright spot in the journey to improve the quality of life for the people; contributing to the completion of the goal of 100% of villages and hamlets having domestic water according to the Resolution of the Song Hinh District Party Congress for the term 2020-2025.
"This project not only has material significance, but also demonstrates the spirit of solidarity and mutual love between the government and the people. This is also a motivation for the local government to continue implementing essential infrastructure development projects, bringing a better life to ethnic minorities in remote and isolated areas," Mr. Nay Y Son affirmed.
