Images of doctors, teachers, party secretaries wearing green uniforms... in especially difficult border areas, along with countless touching stories about the sacrifices of brave fighting, the endurance of hardships of Border Guard officers and soldiers, have created an endless source of inspiration for authors to create valuable works of literature, poetry, music, painting, and journalism. They have made a mark in organizing and implementing propaganda tasks on building, managing, and protecting national borders.

The Border Guard Political Department has many artists and journalists who have contributed many famous works. Among the leaders at the department, division and unit levels, there are many individuals who are recognized for directing and organizing the implementation of propaganda tasks. In particular, there are comrades who not only preside over the implementation of assigned tasks but also directly create high-quality works.

Not only in charge of propaganda work, many comrades who are leaders of the Political Department are also famous for their works. Typical examples are Major General Cao Thuong Luong, Colonel Phan Trong Bang, Major General Vu Hiep Binh, Colonel Nguyen Hoa Van. These are people who have contributed to advising the Party Committee - Command, Party Committee - Command of the Political Department to create policies, solutions, and measures to organize the implementation of propaganda tasks, and are also the creators of excellent journalistic, literary, and artistic works.

Colonel Nguyen Hoa Van is one of those characters. With 15 years of experience as Editor-in-Chief of the Border Guard Newspaper, and more than 3 years as Deputy Chief of Political Affairs of the Border Guard and Editor-in-Chief of the Border Guard Newspaper, he is the one who organized and produced many documentary series and television programs that have a strong influence on the public. Notable ones are Border Report, Sea and Island Report, Part 1 of the film Border History Pages and dozens of live television programs on VTV... Among them are many works honored at the National Press Awards, the Press Awards for Foreign Information... Colonel Nguyen Hoa Van is also the one who initiated the naming of many television exchange works that are still alive today.

Traveling along the country's borders, everywhere you go you hear stories about border guards who are helping people learn to read and write day and night.

Programs familiar to the public

Now, accessing the Internet, we can easily find many familiar names of lively television programs that have existed for more than 10 years. Such as “Half a century of golden marching songs”, “Warm home of the border”, “Border full of friendship”, “Spring on the border warms the hearts of the villagers”, “Echoes of the border”, “Spring towards the highlands of Ha Giang”, “Spring on the border lifts you to school”, “People who light the fire on the border”, “For the ships far away”.

In the above works, more than half were initiated by Colonel Nguyen Hoa Van and were immediately accepted, namely: "Half a century of resounding military marches", "Spring on the border warms the hearts of the villagers", "Spring on the border lifts children to school", "Those who light the fire on the border", "For the ships far away".

As for the name of the program “Border of Friendship”, before the plan was approved, Colonel Nguyen Hoa Van proposed the name: “Border of Friendship” or “Border of Integration”. After the steering committee meeting, the organizing committee approved the plan with the above name. This is an exchange program between the Vietnam Border Guard and the national border protection forces of neighboring countries: China, Laos, Cambodia. This exchange program is very valuable. The message of the program: Solidarity, friendship, cooperation and trust; Being the core in building a peaceful, stable, developing border, promoting international integration; protecting common interests and the interests of each country, for the peaceful and happy life of the people on both sides of the border.

Up to now, this program has been organized 3 times. The first time was organized in March 2014, winning the National Press Encouragement Award in 2014. The second time was organized in May 2016, winning the B prize of the National Press Award in 2016.

It is known that Colonel - journalist Nguyen Hoa Van is also a political writer who is deeply concerned with the current issues of the country. His assessment was also honored to be quoted in the Red Book of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. He has been honored 7 times with the A, B, C, KK awards at the National Press Awards, Golden Hammer and Sickle and Anti-Corruption Awards. In particular, he was awarded the Third Class National Defense Medal by the President for his achievements in organizing the production of 36 episodes of sea and island documentary films with director Tran Tuan Hiep and the Border Guard Newspaper.
