At around 6am, on the shore of Lan Chau Island, along Cua Lo Beach (Nghe An), fishermen’s basket boats returned with loads of fish and shrimp. On the shore, locals and tourists were already waiting.

Fisherman Nguyen Huu Sang (residing in Thu Thuy ward, Vinh city) said he has been involved in the profession for more than 20 years. Fishing by basket boat is quite dangerous and hard, and income depends on the weather and "heaven's blessings".

“Close-to-shore fishing is fast going and fast returning. After 3 hours at sea, we reach shore by 6am. The seafood is fresh, not iced or frozen, so locals and tourists love it. On a sunny day, with calm winds and calm seas, we earn about 1 million VND per trip,” Mr. Sang shared.

Shrimp, fish, squid... after being caught are quickly sold by fishermen right on the beach.

Fish and shrimp are sorted into a “bunch” for sale.

Ms. Vo Thi Thu (residing in Nghi Huong ward, Vinh city) just bought a batch of fresh fish, happily showing off: "Every day I come here to buy fish to cook meals for my family. The fish is just removed from the net, not iced or salted so it is very fresh, ensuring safety for health."
