Dr. Pham Tan Ha, Vice Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Ho Chi Minh City National University), said that in 2025, the school plans to maintain stable admission methods as in the previous year. Accordingly, the school will consider admission based on many methods, mainly from the results of the high school graduation exam and the capacity assessment exam of Ho Chi Minh City National University. This is to avoid disruptions that may affect the registration of candidates for admission to the school next year.
Regarding the method of considering the scores of the Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment exam, Dr. Ha said that the school will adjust the method of consideration to suit the changing orientation of the exam from 2025. Specifically, according to the orientation of this exam, candidates can choose 3 out of 6 groups of subjects in any part 3 of the problem solving of the exam. "The school's orientation when considering the results of this exam is also expected to allow candidates to choose 3 subjects of their strengths to achieve the highest score when applying to the school. The school does not plan to limit the selection of candidates to only taking the group of subjects related to the field of social sciences when considering this method. Candidates can choose the subject they are strongest in to take the exam to get the results for admission to the school," Dr. Ha informed.
According to the orientation of full-time university admission from 2025, Nha Trang University will consider admission according to two main groups of methods: combining high school learning results and university learning capacity assessment results. Specifically, the method of considering high school learning results, candidates must study certain subjects in high school according to the school's regulations and the results of these subjects must meet the minimum requirements announced by the school every year. With the university learning capacity assessment, the focus will be on mathematical ability (math, logical reasoning and data processing); language (including Vietnamese and English); science (problem solving). For the science part, candidates can choose the scope corresponding to the subjects studied in high school and suitable for the training industry and major according to the school's regulations.
Explaining further about this orientation, Associate Professor, Dr. To Van Phuong, Head of the School's Training Department, said that in addition to the admission method based on high school transcript results, the school uses the results of university learning capacity assessment exams. The results of university learning capacity assessment can be from the scores of the Ho Chi Minh City National University's capacity assessment exam, the scores of the high school graduation exam if the exam is in the capacity assessment style. "In fact, the structure and format of the high school graduation exam from 2025 announced by the Ministry of Education and Training has the above orientation. Therefore, the results of this exam will still be used to consider admission to the school," Associate Professor, Dr. Phuong added.
As early as July this year, Hanoi National University of Education 2 also issued a notice on the methods of regular university admission in 2025. Accordingly, the school proposed 6 methods of consideration, including the method of considering high school graduation exam scores. National Economics University is also one of the schools that announced the earliest direction for regular university admission in 2025. Accordingly, the school maintains stable admission methods but adjusts the quota for each method. In particular, high school graduation exam scores are used in 2 methods: considering the results of the high school graduation exam in 2025; combining international English certificates with the 2025 high school graduation exam scores of math and 1 other subject other than English (belonging to the combined admission method according to the admission plan).
ADDING COMBINATIONS WITH NEW EXAM SUBJECTS
Ho Chi Minh City University of Education plans to announce its university admissions orientation for 2025 at the end of October. However, according to Master Le Phan Quoc, Deputy Head of the school's Training Department, the school's orientation is to research and review appropriate methods, which are suitable for each industry, not to apply the same to all industries. This has been adjusted in the school's specialized competency assessment exam from 2024 as a basis. Equally important is the review and adjustment of combinations in methods using combinations to suit the subjects in the high school program that students are studying (compulsory subjects, elective subjects) and high school graduation exam subjects from 2025 according to the exam plan issued by the Ministry of Education and Training.
36 subject combinations for admission
"In addition to the traditional combinations, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education will add combinations suitable for new optional exams such as: information technology, technology. The general spirit of each admission combination still includes 3 subjects, including math or literature," Master Quoc added.
Sharing about this orientation, Dr. Pham Tan Ha said that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City will consider building admission combinations suitable for students' subject choices in the next school year. According to the orientation of the high school graduation exam next year, candidates will only take two compulsory subjects: math and literature, and two optional subjects from the remaining subjects. "The school will try to keep the traditional subject combinations so as not to disrupt the candidates' subject choices from 3 years ago, for example: C00 (literature, history, geography); D01 (math, literature, English); D14 (literature, history, foreign language). These three combinations are used the most for admission to the school's majors, and are expected to be included in the admission subject combinations in 2025," Dr. Ha gave an example.
Based on the subjects in high school, Nha Trang University announced a list of 36 corresponding subject combinations. Accordingly, depending on the major, there will be different subject groups from 2-5 subjects. Similarly, with the admission form based on the results of the university learning capacity assessment exam, the school also announced the scope of corresponding fields for each major. Based on the subject groups and the scope of this orientation capacity assessment, the school will build specific admission combinations in the detailed admission plan.
Vietnam-Germany University also plans to allow candidates to freely choose subjects in groups of majors to register for admission. Candidates are not limited in choosing subjects, but can be flexible depending on their orientation and interests. For example, in the method of considering high school academic scores, the school considers admission based on the average score of 6 subjects according to the results of 3 years of high school. Of which, engineering and technology majors consider 4 compulsory subjects (math, physics, literature, foreign language) and 2 elective subjects (from chemistry, biology, information technology, technology, history and geography). Economics and management majors consider the average score of 3 compulsory subjects (math, literature, foreign language) and 3 elective subjects from the remaining subjects.
According to the announcement of the National Economics University, the method of using the high school graduation exam results in 2025 has 4 groups. Specifically, including A00 (math, physics, chemistry); A01 (math, physics, English); D01 (math, literature, English) and D07 (math, chemistry, English) instead of 9 groups as in 2024.
