Pepper prices today, February 20, 2025, in the domestic market are basically stable in key localities, trading from 160,000 - 162,500 VND/kg.

Specifically, pepper price today in Gia Lai is at 160,000 VND/kg.

Pepper prices today in the provinces of Dong Nai (159,000 VND/kg); Dak Lak (162,000 VND/kg); Dak Nong (162,500 VND/kg); Ba Ria - Vung Tau (160,000 VND/kg) and Binh Phuoc (160,000 VND/kg).

Thus, pepper prices today are stable in most key localities, recording a slight increase of 500 VND/kg in Dak Nong. The highest pepper price is at 162,500 VND/kg.

According to Ba Ria - Vung Tau Newspaper, in mid-February, this locality usually enters the middle of the dry season. But this year, after months of cold weather, unseasonal rains appeared in mid-February. The unusual weather not only affects agricultural production and people's lives, but also warns of unpredictable impacts.

This year, unseasonal rains have caused temperatures to drop during the dry season, which has caused the pepper harvest to be delayed compared to normal. Mr. Nguyen Van Tru, a pepper farmer in Chau Duc district, said that the pepper harvest is delayed compared to normal due to changes in the weather.

Slower harvests and concerns about weather affecting yields are helping pepper prices rebound since the beginning of the week.

According to Thestar , in 2025, the International Pepper Community (IPC) forecasts that global production will continue to decline partly due to the lower economic efficiency of pepper compared to other crops, leading many farmers to no longer choose pepper as their main crop.

Other factors affecting production include harsh climate, which reduces pepper productivity while production costs increase significantly.

Meanwhile, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association (VPSA), Ms. Hoang Thi Lien, is optimistic about the global pepper market in 2025 as output is expected to continue to decline and extreme weather conditions have reduced pepper productivity in many countries.

China, which imported little pepper from Vietnam last year, is expected to increase purchases as Vietnam enters its main harvest this month.

Some industry analysts predict that Vietnamese pepper prices could increase by 40% to 50% from current levels.

At the end of the most recent trading session, the International Pepper Community (IPC) listed the price of Lampung black pepper (Indonesia) at 7,298 USD/ton; the price of Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 at 6,800 USD/ton; the price of Kuching black pepper (Malaysia) ASTA at 9,000 USD/ton.

Muntok white pepper price is 10,143 USD/ton; ASTA Malaysian white pepper price is at 11,600 USD/ton.

Vietnam black pepper price is traded at 6,500 USD/ton for 500 g/l; 550 g/l at 6,650 USD/ton; white pepper price at 9,550 USD/ton.
