"Rest assured that, although we may no longer have the name Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs at this time, the reputation of the industry will certainly spread more and more. We are one house, but in the future, there may be five different houses in five different ministries," the Minister advised.

The Minister emphasized that in the historical flow of the country, the entire sector has every right to be proud of 80 years of construction, dedication and growth. At any time, despite different names and different headquarters, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs is always the embodiment of humanity and humanity, demonstrating the superiority of the socialist regime, the Party and the State, bringing a good life to the people.

"We can be proud of the achievements we have made. These are achievements on the path of creating and building institutions, implementing social policies, gradually transforming the approach from "stability and security" to "stability and development", from immediate social security to sustainable social policies, from caring for the poor, homeless children, war invalids, policy families... to welfare for everyone.

"Officers and workers of the sector work diligently day and night, not afraid of difficulties to take care of wounded soldiers, the elderly and children. Many people work silently at martyrs' cemeteries, they do not have the conditions to be here today," the Minister shared.

The deepest impression on Minister Dao Ngoc Dung is the time he spent working in the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (Photo: Manh Quan).

On this occasion, the Minister would like to express his sincere thanks to generations of cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers in the industry over the past 80 years - those who have contributed to building the position and reputation of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs today.

The head of the industry hopes that the young generation of cadres, who have just been accepted into the Ministry, will always be proud of the glorious tradition of the industry. Because they are the ones who will continue to write new pages of history for the industry.

Sharing for the last time as Commander of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the Minister recounted many stories during his 46 years of work.

Specifically, after leaving high school, he was recruited into the state payroll with a salary of 36 dong. At that time, according to the Minister, life was very difficult, there was constant hunger, and he had to eat corn and potatoes instead of rice.

Later, he participated in work in the northern border region and experienced many ups and downs, from the subsidy period to the renovation process. He deeply understood the significance of the renovation initiated by the Party and the State, as well as the effectiveness and results that the Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs sector has brought to the meritorious people and society.

During that journey, he felt lucky to have grown up through many leadership positions, working as a head at 11 different agencies and units.

"There were many farewells and many emotions, but perhaps the deepest impression on me was the time I spent working in the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs," the Minister said.

During his two terms as the commander of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, the Minister shared that he could not forget the noon and sleepless nights at the Ministry's headquarters, eating bread while working hard on policies with his subordinates, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.

"I will certainly never forget the calls from the Prime Minister after midnight, discussing policies to support people and businesses to overcome the pandemic. There were nights when I had just left the Government headquarters at 0:30 a.m. and the Prime Minister called me back to work, lasting until 4 a.m.

After that, we urgently prepared documents to report to senior leaders at 8am. Then, those efforts created very special, unprecedented policies," the Minister shared.

Today, reading the article in Dan Tri newspaper about the past two working terms, I suddenly remembered that the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs has done many meaningful things. The silent contributions of the department, and the people present today have woven those proud "products".

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has repeatedly affirmed: "We have never done as well in social security and social policy as in the recent period". Also acknowledging the contributions of the sector, President Luong Cuong emphasized: "The contributions of the Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs sector, including the Minister himself, are particularly important, especially in the field of social policy".

We have every right to be proud of what we have achieved. And I am truly proud of everyone," the Minister emphasized.

The Minister did not forget to express his sincere thanks to the fathers, mothers, wives and husbands - those who have silently supported and created conditions for cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers in the whole industry to join hands and overcome countless difficulties and challenges. According to the Minister, those are hardships that only insiders can understand, so that today, the Ministry can achieve proud results and achievements.

The Minister also shared that yesterday, the National Assembly officially "pressed the button" to approve the merger of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs with the Ministry of Home Affairs, forming the Ministry of Home Affairs. However, he affirmed that this is not a cause for concern, because the predecessor of the Ministry once had a period of bearing the name of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

"In this merger, let's think that we are returning to the old cradle. The General Department of Vocational Education and some educational units will return to the Ministry of Education and Training, some other units will transfer to the Ministry of Health. That is the spread. When the sector's staff return to the new agency, they will bring the best of the Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs sector to continue to create and promote the values of social workers," the Minister advised.

The Minister expressed his hope that the cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers of the sector, regardless of their position or agency, will continue to devote themselves so that the 80-year reputation of the Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs sector will continue to spread.

This is not only an opportunity to meet, celebrate, and recall beautiful memories of the 80-year journey of building and developing the Ministry, but also an opportunity to honor the contributions of generations of leaders, civil servants, public employees and workers.

On behalf of all cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers of the Ministry, Deputy Minister Le Tan Dung sent congratulations to Minister Dao Ngoc Dung, who has just been elected and appointed by the National Assembly, the President and the Prime Minister to hold the new position - Minister of Ethnic Minorities and Religions, term 2021-2026, starting from March 1, 2025.

The Ministry has also actively implemented sustainable poverty reduction programs, ensuring social security, and preventing social evils, thereby reducing the poverty rate nationwide and improving the social security system.

In particular, the innovation and development of the vocational education system in an open, flexible and modern direction has better met the requirements of the labor market in the context of integration and development.

Deputy Minister Le Tan Dung believes that in his new position, with his broad vision, high sense of responsibility, dedication, acumen, and wisdom in leadership and management, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung will steer the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions to overcome all difficulties and challenges, and successfully complete the tasks assigned by the Party and the People.
