NDO - Recently, the official Instagram page of the unit responsible for the restoration of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris posted a picture of the roof of the structure with a completion level of more than 90%. Accordingly, the cathedral is ready to reopen to tourists on December 8.

According to Reuters news agency, up to now, the French government still does not know the exact cause of the fire at this church.

After the fire, it took two years for Notre Dame Cathedral to stabilize its structure so that restorers could work safely inside the building.

The reconstruction project is currently underway with a team of around 1,000 artisans and craftsmen from across France. The complete restoration of the cathedral is expected to be completed by 2025, according to the world's leading travel magazine Lonely Planet.

As part of the reopening, Notre Dame Cathedral is set to host a number of special exhibitions and displays of artifacts related to the history of the cathedral. New stands at the end of the cathedral square will offer visitors a great view.

Nearby, visitors can learn more about the monumental efforts to restore the cathedral in the exhibition “Notre Dame: The Heart of the Restoration,” which is set to open in a former underground parking lot behind the grandstand. The free event is scheduled for December 6-8 and does not require reservations.

In addition, tourists can experience a virtual reality program called "Eternal Notre Dame". In this activity, visitors will watch a 45-minute film.

Going back in time, the public will be able to relive the past with the stories of those who played important roles in the journey of building Notre Dame Cathedral.

The long-standing French Catholic daily La Croix reported that Olivier Ribadeau Dumas, Director and Parish Priest of Notre Dame Cathedral, shared that during this reopening, Masses will take place continuously for 8 days, celebrated by Paris Archbishop Laurent Ulrich. One of the ceremonies will be dedicated to the units involved in repairing the structure, including: firefighters, volunteers, artisans and staff...
