On the evening of May 10, speaking with Thanh Nien reporter , Mr. Hoang Ve Dung, Chairman of the Vietnam Athletics Federation, said that he had received information from THACO Truong Hai Group about this enterprise's intention to give a Peugeot 2008 car to athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh and 200 million VND to the track and field athletes competing at the 32nd SEA Games.
According to Mr. Dung, for the Vietnam Athletics Federation, it has become a habit that every year there are businesses that sponsor, help and "reward" athletes when they achieve high results.
"Especially in this 32nd SEA Games, the federation leaders also met with the players before leaving, and gave them a bonus of 100 million VND in advance. At the same time, they promised to give them an additional bonus of about 1 billion VND after achieving high results after the SEA Games," said Mr. Dung.
According to Mr. Dung, in fact, this 32nd SEA Games has a very special achievement from athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh. The fact that THACO Truong Hai Group offered to give a Peugeot 2008 to athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh and 200 million VND to athletes competing at the 32nd SEA Games is a very quick and timely encouragement from the enterprise. This shows the concern and encouragement for the brothers who are competing abroad with very difficult competition schedules.
"Personally, I highly appreciate the quick response of the business, the attention of THACO Truong Hai Group to the Vietnamese Athletics industry. In addition, I would like to thank the businesses that have accompanied Vietnam Athletics in the past time. Hopefully, with this contribution and support, in the remaining 2 days of competition, the athletes will achieve the desired results of 14-18 gold medals," said Mr. Dung.
"With the harsh competition conditions in Cambodia, while the Organizing Committee arranged a tight schedule when allowing Nguyen Thi Oanh to compete in two events less than 20 minutes apart, it can be seen that Nguyen Thi Oanh is a very special person, who has created a "miracle" for the Vietnamese Athletics industry. We are really proud of our team of athletes and coaches," Mr. Dung shared.
According to Mr. Dung, it is not surprising that Nguyen Thi Oanh won two gold medals at the same time when competing in two events less than 20 minutes apart. Because, before sending the delegation off, we predicted and talked about this "special person".
"The teachers told me that, although she looks small (Nguyen Thi Oanh - PV) she has a very strange inner strength so there is nothing "sudden", because they have seen it in advance. This 32nd SEA Games is the ripe period of athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh. We are insiders so there is nothing to be surprised about. We have seen the strength of this athlete in advance" Mr. Dung affirmed.
Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Mot, THACO Communications Director, said that on behalf of THACO AUTO's Board of Directors, he sent a letter to Mr. Hoang Ve Dung, Chairman of the Vietnam Athletics Federation, to express his intention: "THACO AUTO will give a Peugeot 2008 car to track and field athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh and 200 million VND to track and field athletes competing at the 32nd SEA Games."
According to Mr. Mot, to show respect for the athletes' contributions to the country and encourage their individual efforts, bringing pride to the Vietnamese people, THACO AUTO (a member group of THACO) will present a Peugeot 2008 car to Nguyen Thi Oanh - an athlete who won 3 gold medals at the 32nd SEA Games.
In addition, THACO AUTO also donated 200 million VND to track and field athletes participating in the 32nd SEA Games.
The Peugeot 2008 car offered to athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh is the GT-Line version worth over 900 million VND (including taxes and fees). The Vietnam Athletics Federation also sent its thanks to the group.
Previously, on May 9, Nguyen Thi Oanh made history in Vietnamese and Southeast Asian athletics when she became the first athlete to win two gold medals in the 1,500m and 3,000m steeplechase events, only 20 minutes apart. She also won a gold medal in the women's 5,000m event.
