Costumes bearing the golden mark of the past

The room is hundreds of square meters wide, displaying a variety of antiques, each item bearing the mark of time, among which the wardrobes containing the clothes of ancient kings, queens, and princesses stand out and take up a large space. Showing us around, Mr. Nhan said that all of these clothes were collected by him from abroad, all of which had to be auctioned.

The dress Queen Nam Phuong wore on the day of her coronation

Among them are two large yellow ceremonial robes of a Nguyen Dynasty king. In addition, there is also a regular robe of King Dong Khanh - the 9th emperor of the Nguyen Dynasty, who reigned from 1885-1889.

In a large glass cabinet, Mr. Nhan displayed 3 dresses and some accessories of queens and princesses in the past. The most prominent one was Queen Nam Phuong's dress. Queen Nam Phuong was crowned queen right after marrying King Bao Dai, but it took 6 months to sew a dress for the coronation ceremony, so there was no time. So her mother-in-law gave her this dress on the coronation day.

There is also a set of clothes belonging to Mrs. Nguyen Phuc Ton Tuy, commonly known as Ba Chua Nhat, with the title My Luong Princess, the daughter of King Duc Duc. The remaining set belonged to a wife of King Dong Khanh.

The similarity between the clothes of the king, queen and princess in the past is that they were made of high-quality materials such as brocade, satin, and silk. The costumes were elaborately embroidered with gold threads…

A ceramic item from the Le - Trinh period

Currently, Mr. Nhan owns thousands of precious antiques, including many household items in the royal palace. Typically, there are dozens of ceramic items signed in the style of the Le - Trinh period. According to his introduction, it is very difficult to own ceramic items from the Le - Trinh period because this dynasty often ordered from China. Each item has its own symbol of the royal palace to avoid sharing. If the items are accidentally lost outside the palace, no one dares to use them, all are returned because if discovered, they will be severely punished. Therefore, there are not many ceramic items from this period left and they are often scattered abroad...

In 2022, at the Hue Royal Antiques Exhibition held at the Hanoi Friendship Cultural Palace, out of about 200 royal antiques on display, Mr. Nhan contributed the most with 36 artifacts. In the near future, he plans to bring some items to display at the Con Son - Kiep Bac Autumn Festival space. Mr. Nhan introduces the jars from the Le Dynasty.

“Since I was a child, I have been fascinated by the antiques that remain in my homeland Ke Sat. They could be just broken pieces of porcelain from the merchants who used to pass through this land. The passion grew, and when economic conditions allowed, I paid more attention to investing. Those items, when dusted off by time, contain the depth of culture and tradition of the nation. I believe that anyone who is Vietnamese, when seeing them, will be proud of the culture of their homeland,” Mr. Nhan shared.
