On July 16, the Central Dermatology Hospital reported a complication due to skin rejuvenation injections using mesotherapy at a spa. The complication caused the 40-year-old female patient to have swelling and blisters all over her face.
The patient said that when she went to a local spa for beauty treatment, she was prescribed meso injections on her face. The spa staff mixed a meso product and a Korean serum-based cosmetic product for topical use only, then injected this solution into the patient's face.
Immediately after the injection, the patient experienced swelling of the entire face, lips and eyelids.

After that, the patient took Medrol 16mg, an antihistamine, and the lesions improved slightly. After 2 days, more clear blisters appeared, ruptured and oozed fluid at the injection sites, so the patient went to the Central Dermatology Hospital for examination.
Dr. Le Thi Mai, Head of the Line Command Department, Central Dermatology Hospital, said that when arriving at the hospital, the patient had swelling all over her face, lips, eyelids, spreading down to her neck, and some blisters and clear vesicles appeared at the injection sites.
After 3 days of treatment, the patient's lips were stable, but other skin lesions still required long-term treatment (Photo: Provided by the doctor).
According to Dr. Vu Thai Ha, Head of the Department of Research and Application of Stem Cell Technology, Central Dermatology Hospital, complications due to injections and use of products of unknown origin are quite common.
The Central Dermatology Hospital regularly receives cases of these complications. Notably, these cases often require persistent treatment for months or years due to severe skin damage.
Dr. Ha recommends that when women go to get beauty treatments, they should go to hospitals or medical facilities specializing in Dermatology - Aesthetics to be examined by doctors and advised on safe and scientific beauty methods.
Absolutely do not believe, listen to, or use products of unknown origin made by non-professionals to limit possible complications.
