(CLO) John Tinniswood, a Briton who survived two world wars and two global pandemics, died at the age of 112 on Tuesday (November 26), months after being recognized by Guinness World Records as the world's oldest man.
Mr Tinniswood died on Monday at a nursing home in Southport, northwest England, surrounded by “music and love”, his family told Guinness World Records in a statement.
"John had many good qualities. He was intelligent, decisive, courageous, calm in any crisis, good at math and a great conversationalist," his family said.

Born in August 1912 in Liverpool, he met his wife Blodwen at a dance before marrying her in 1942. At the height of World War II, he served in the Royal Army Pay Corps, the unit responsible for finance and food supplies.
Mr Tinniswood, who has a daughter, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, later worked as an accountant in the oil industry before retiring at the age of 60. His wife died in 1986.
From the ages of 100 to 110, he received a birthday card every year from the late Queen Elizabeth, who was 14 years his junior. She died in 2022.
Apart from eating his favourite food (fish and chips) every Friday, Mr Tinniswood does not follow any special diet.
Guinness World Records said he remained mentally active, followed the news and managed his own finances, which may have contributed to his longevity.
When Guinness World Records awarded him the title of world's oldest man in April this year, Mr Tinniswood said there was no big secret to his longevity, insisting it was "just luck".
