(QNO) - Fishermen in Tam Tien commune (Nui Thanh) have just released a 15kg turtle caught in a net back into the marine environment.

Fisherman Tran Xuan Hao (Long Thanh village, Tam Tien commune) said that on the evening of April 16, he was fishing on fishing boat number QNA-90769 TS about 20 nautical miles from shore when he discovered a turtle caught in the net.

After that, Mr. Hao pulled the net onto the boat to remove the turtle and released it back into the ocean that same night.

"The turtle weighs about 15kg, is about 20 - 30cm long, has a moss green shell, and is in stable health," said Mr. Hao.

Previously, on March 26, fishermen in Tam Tien also released a turtle weighing about 25kg that was caught in a net back into the marine environment.
