Ngoc Lac district has encouraged people to develop safe agricultural production models according to VietGAP and organic standards... to meet the increasing demands of the market and consumers. The change in production thinking has initially brought high economic efficiency and gradually spread among the people.
Area of fruit trees grown according to VietGAP standards in Ngoc Lac town.
Established in 2013 with a capital of 370 million VND, the 9 members of the Giang Son Village Safe Vegetable Production Cooperative Group, Thuy Son Commune have persevered in the direction of safe agricultural development, gradually affirming their brand with VietGAP quality vegetable and fruit products, becoming a reliable address providing clean agricultural products to the market. Mr. Duong Dang Hoa, Head of the Giang Son Village Safe Vegetable Production Cooperative Group, shared: “Starting from traditional agricultural production households in the locality, we have gathered into the Cooperative Group to support each other in developing products that meet standards and quality to supply the market. Accordingly, since 2014, the Cooperative Group has registered to develop safe vegetable production areas according to VietGAP standards and regularly invites agricultural officers and experts from reputable units inside and outside the district to train in management, monitoring, inspection and supervision during the production process. At the same time, mobilize capital to build a one-way processing house to prevent cross-contamination. The entire production area of about 1.8 hectares of 9 members uses organic fertilizers, does not affect the environment and produces according to the "four rights" principle including: right medicine, right dosage, right time and right method as prescribed in VietGAP production standards.
It is known that, in addition to managing and orienting production development for the cooperative, Mr. Duong Dang Hoa's family also has 7 sao of land to grow vegetables such as: lotus greens, sweet greens, green cabbage, kohlrabi, cabbage, water spinach, amaranth, Malabar spinach, Malabar spinach...; fruits such as: squash, pumpkin, luffa, cucumber, long beans... and aromatic herbs such as: basil, basil, coriander, dill, Vietnamese coriander, perilla, chives, green onions... In the above production area, his family strictly applies VietGAP production standards, uses organic fertilizers as base fertilizer, lime to increase the pH content of the soil and installs a modern, water-saving sprinkler irrigation system. Thanks to the application of modern, standard farming methods, his family's production area has achieved high economic value, deducting expenses, earning a profit of about 200 million VND per year.
Previously, Ms. Le Thi Thao's family in Thanh Cong village, Kien Tho commune, produced outdoors using traditional methods and often suffered damage due to harsh weather. Since 2019, her family has invested in a nearly 2-hectare greenhouse system to produce a number of high-tech crops. Along with that is an automatic irrigation system to provide nutrients and water for crops. Thanks to the application of science and technology in production, and at the same time the production process is strictly controlled from the stages of seed selection, planting, and care, crops produced in greenhouses grow and develop well. In particular, the Kim Hoang Hau melon plant brings high economic efficiency, with revenue reaching nearly 800 million VND/year and profit of more than 200 million VND/year.
Ms. Thao said: "Thanks to the guidance of local agricultural officials, after many visits and learning experiences, my family has decided to invest in a greenhouse and net house system for safe agricultural production. The above production investment not only creates high-quality agricultural products suitable for market consumption trends but also minimizes the impact of natural disasters and epidemics, protects the ecological environment and brings outstanding economic efficiency."
In most communes and towns in the district, the movement to develop safe agricultural production has been replicated, creating large-scale production areas, following the direction of applying high technology. Accordingly, in the district, there are 11 models of greenhouses and net houses for high-tech agricultural production to produce Kim Hoang Hau melons, vegetables, tubers and fruits applying VietGAP standards; 150 hectares of turmeric production, 130 hectares of lemongrass, 360 hectares of pink banana trees produced in an organic direction. In addition, there are about 97.5 hectares of crops of Ho Guom - Song Am CNC Agriculture Company Limited, including: 15 hectares of oranges, grapefruits, 27 hectares of seedless lychees, 11 hectares of red-fleshed dragon fruit, 34.5 hectares of Israeli avocados, 10 hectares of Keo mangoes that have been certified by VietGAP and are gradually converting to organic agricultural production. Along with that, in the district there are also hundreds of livestock farms applying biosafety measures to create quality products, ensuring food hygiene and safety and high economic value.
Currently, Ngoc Lac district has been integrating many mechanisms and policies of the Central, the province and the district to support people in developing safe agriculture, building sustainable agricultural production models with high economic value. Striving to complete the goal by 2025, Ngoc Lac district will build an intensive rice cultivation area with high quality productivity of 2,500 hectares/year. Of which, 50 hectares of areca nut sticky rice are certified by VietGAP. The concentrated fruit tree area is produced in the direction of high technology, applying high technology is 800 hectares, 100 hectares of fruit trees are certified by VietGAP, the number of large-scale poultry farms applying VietGAP livestock practices accounts for 90%. Maintaining and developing some indigenous livestock and poultry such as pigs, goats, local chickens... organic farming ensures disease safety accounts for 10% of the total herd.
