Strictly clean up the art environment

Báo Sài Gòn Giải phóngBáo Sài Gòn Giải phóng22/07/2024

The fact that singer Dam Vinh Hung was fined 27.5 million VND by authorities and banned from performing for 9 months due to violations in his performance costumes received many supportive opinions.

If in the past, fines were often considered to lack deterrence, then a temporary ban on performing can be considered one of the tough measures, demonstrating the determination to clean up the artistic environment.

In the era of strong social media development, artists and celebrities have deviant statements and actions, dress inappropriately or intentionally create scandals to attract views. These behaviors not only affect personal image but also cause negative impacts on society, especially on young people.

When their idols, whom they admire and follow every day, have substandard behaviors, this is easily imitated and spread. Strictly handling violations like Dam Vinh Hung is necessary to deter and prevent arbitrariness, lack of awareness, and lack of civic responsibility of those working in this field.

In fact, this is not the first violation for Dam Vinh Hung. Previously, this male singer has been punished many times for uncivilized behavior when performing and giving false information... but this is the first time he has received an additional, heavier punishment of being banned from performing.

Banning artists from performing is not only a deterrent and corrective measure, but also a way to protect and enhance cultural and ethical values in society. In the near future, when the Regulations on handling artists, public figures, and artists who violate the law, customs, etc., developed by the Ministry of Information and Communications in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, are issued, the punishment, depending on the violation, may include a "ban on air", meaning that they cannot appear on media and social networks. As an artist or a famous person, becoming "invisible" to the public is an extremely severe punishment.

Artists need the public, because the public is the one who takes them to new heights of art. However, if artists do not know how to appreciate the purity and health of art, do wrong things, serve the illusory, selfish, and misguided ego, sooner or later they will be turned away.

When the public boycotts, stops following, and does not support the products of artists with inappropriate behavior and statements, it will be the clearest signal for them to realize that fame comes with responsibility. Because art must truly contribute to building a better society.
