(NLDO) – A 3-year-old child climbed over the railing on the 4th floor and fell into the gutter but was fortunately rescued safely by 2 police officers and a teacher.
On the evening of December 6, a leader of the Department of Education and Training of Dak Nong province said that an incident had just occurred in which a girl and her parents went to attend an English speaking contest and fell off the 4th floor railing.
2 police officers after rescuing the child safely
Before that, at about 10:15 a.m. the same day, at the Dak Nong Province Continuing Education Center, an English speaking contest for primary school students across the province took place.
At that time, Major Tran Dinh Tin, Deputy Captain of the Traffic Police Team of Dak Mil District Police, was taking his child to the competition and was on the second floor when he heard screaming from the upper floor, so he rushed up to check.
Arriving at the 4th floor, Major Tin discovered a 3-year-old girl had fallen off the railing and was lying on a water trough (about 45 cm wide, 1.5 m from the foot of the railing).
Immediately, Major Tin, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phong (specialist of the Department of Education and Training of Dak Song district) and Lieutenant Colonel Phan Le Tien, Captain of the General Team of Dak Mil District Police (also a parent whose child took the exam), organized the rescue.
The three people called on everyone below to spread out blankets in case the baby fell. Then, they quickly climbed over the railing, approached and carried the baby to safety, to everyone's relief.
It is known that the child followed his parents to the center to watch the competition. While there was no adult watching, the child went up to the 4th floor without permission.
Sharing with reporters, Major Tran Dinh Tin said that because he did not know the way down, the child crawled through the gap under the railing and fell outside the gutter. At that time, the child was panicking, if he moved, he could have fallen to the ground.
"In this dangerous situation, we only had time to think about how to save the child as quickly as possible. When approaching, we both reassured the child and called for support with ropes and ladders, while climbing over the railing to reach a safe position and carrying the child out of the danger zone.
"Recalling that scene, I still tremble. If we had been a few minutes later, the baby would have likely fallen to the ground," Major Tin shared.
