On the morning of December 12, with the hope that the series of events "Pho Day 12-12" is not only about culture and cuisine, but also about love, sharing, and full of emotions, Tuoi Tre newspaper coordinated with Lao Cai Provincial Youth Union and Bao Yen district to organize the program "Pho of Love 2024" at Phuc Khanh Primary and Secondary School No. 1 (Phuc Khanh commune, Bao Yen district).
Participating in this year's Pho Yeu Thuong event are famous pho restaurants and shops, such as: Pho Thin Bo Ho (Hanoi), Pho 34 Cao Thang (HCMC), Pho S (Ngoc Linh ginseng). The program is accompanied by HD Bank.
Enjoy the taste of Pho on Pho Day
Nguyen Dinh Khiem (8th grade student at Phuc Khanh Secondary School) said that he and his 9th grade classmates woke up at 5am, eagerly preparing for the event taking place in the schoolyard.
As assigned by the teachers, the older students will participate in supporting light activities. Khiem is resourceful and quick to get baskets of herbs, chopsticks, spoons, etc. for the younger students and the uncles and aunts in the commune to eat pho.
Having just finished his work, the student quickly stopped by the stall of Pho 34 Cao Thang. When the staff introduced him to the ingredients brought from Ho Chi Minh City - thousands of kilometers away from his hometown, Khiem's eyes lit up with anticipation.
"My commune also has pho, but you have to go out of town to eat it and it's hard to get the flavor like this," Khiem said, adding that he will also enjoy Pho S - also from Ho Chi Minh City.

Not far from the table where Khiem sat, Little Hoang Gia Bao (2nd grade student at Phuc Khanh Primary School) sat quietly in a corner. Bao did not talk much, but his friends always asked him questions and helped him bring pho to the table.

Traveling thousands of kilometers to bring love to Lang Nu
Throughout the night of December 11 and early morning of December 12, the pots of broth in the yard of Phuc Khanh Primary and Secondary School No. 1 were always on fire. To ensure freshness, the pho noodles were picked up as soon as they were produced in Hanoi. After more than 1 hour, the truck carrying the pho noodles departed from the capital.
After 5 hours of traveling nearly 250km, about 500kg of pho noodles arrived at Phuc Khanh commune. "We only use fresh pho noodles on the same day. In humid weather, if we bring them from yesterday, they will turn sour and spoil," said Ms. Thu (representative of Pho Thin Bo Ho).
The special thing about Pho Thin Bo Ho at this event is the hot bowls of red wine sauce cooked right in the middle of the Northwest hills on a cold windy day. Although it is not a daily dish at the restaurant, the owner said that he still brought it here because this dish "suits the cold rainy day atmosphere".
Talking about Pho Thin when coming to the event, Ms. Thu said she wanted to convey the original, traditional flavor of Hanoi's pho. Those are bowls of pho with clear broth, adding a little ginger to create a warm, hot feeling.

Meanwhile, Ms. Tran Tran (Pho Cao Thang restaurant) said that her family wants to put their heart into every bowl of pho brought to the people in the highlands. "We want every bowl of pho eaten in Phuc Khanh, Lang Nu to be the same as the bowls of pho in Ho Chi Minh City or Bo Ho...", she said.
Attending the annual Pho Day event series organized by Tuoi Tre newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Tien Hai (representative of Pho S chain) said that this year, Pho Yeu Thuong had a special stop.
"I have heard and known a lot about the Nu Village event, but have not had the opportunity to go there to share with my fellow countrymen," he said.
To ensure the full flavor of Southern pho is brought to Lang Nu, the Pho S chain transported hundreds of kilograms of furniture and ingredients by plane to Hanoi. Then, they were transported by car through many landslide-prone roads to this place. It is estimated that there are about 80 kilograms of meat and bones, enough to cook about 500 bowls of pho.
'This event, no one ever thought it could be held in the area'
2024 - a year full of hardship and pain for people in the northern provinces when storm No. 3 Yagi and its circulation caused heavy rain, flash floods, landslides, and widespread flooding.
Notably, in Lang Nu village, Phuc Khanh commune, Bao Yen district, Lao Cai province, a flash flood occurred suddenly in the early morning of September 10, sweeping away all 37 houses. In just a few minutes, mud and soil buried the village. As of mid-October 2024, local authorities determined that the flash flood had killed 60 people, with 7 people still missing.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan - Standing Committee member, Head of School Propaganda Department - Lao Cai Provincial Youth Union, assessed that Pho Yeu Thuong coming to Lang Nu, coming to Phuc Khanh commune is a great sharing and encouragement for local people.
"Seeing the children beaming, eating delicious and warm bowls of pho in the cold rain, the joy and sharing seem to double," said Mr. Tuan.

Talking to Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Nguyen Anh Dung (Vice Chairman of Bao Yen District People's Committee - Lao Cai) said that the event Pho Yeu Thuong 2024 is a meaningful activity. He explained the first meaningful thing because pho is a product made from Vietnamese rice and is a favorite dish of Vietnamese people.
Not only that, Pho Yeu Thuong also brings to the people of the highlands a familiar dish but prepared in the unique ways of famous brands. This event, no one ever thought could be held in the area.
"Organizing Pho Yeu Thuong in Phuc Khanh commune is an activity to share and encourage people in flood-affected areas, overcoming the consequences of natural disasters after a year of loss," said Mr. Dung.

Pho with love to Lang Nu
With the desire that the series of events on Pho Day 12-12 is not only about culture and cuisine but also about love, sharing, and full of emotions, Tuoi Tre newspaper cooperated with Lao Cai Provincial Youth Union and Bao Yen district to organize the program Pho Yeu Thuong 2024 at Phuc Khanh Primary and Secondary School No. 1 on December 11 and 12.
