At the opening ceremony of the 9th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival with the theme “Buon Ma Thuot – Destination of world coffee,” representatives of the International Coffee Organization will attend and recognize Vietnam as the land of Robusta coffee.
Through the 9th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival in 2025 (taking place from March 9 to March 13), in Buon Ma Thuot city, the organizers want to elevate Vietnamese coffee to the level of world culture and art.
“The Executive Director General of the International Coffee Organization, Ms. Vanusia Nogueira, will attend the opening ceremony of the festival and recognize us as the land of Robusta coffee,” Vice Chairman of the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee and Head of the festival organizing committee, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Ha shared at the press conference announcing the event that took place this morning, February 12, in Hanoi.

After 8 times of organization, Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival has become a prominent event of the Vietnamese coffee industry, having great influence and leaving a good impression on people and domestic and international tourists.
The organizing committee representative said that the 9th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival in 2025 with the theme "Buon Ma Thuot - Destination of world coffee" will have 15 official activities and a number of response activities from localities.
“Compared to the 8th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival in 2023, this festival will have new highlights such as: Digital content creation contest to promote the Festival on the internet; Groundbreaking ceremony of Trung Nguyen Legend Energy Coffee Factory; 'Accompanying and sharing' coffee camp at the historical and cultural relic site of CADA Plantation, Krong Pac district...,” said Mr. Nguyen Tuan Ha, Vice Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee of Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival 2025.

Deputy Director of Dak Lak Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr. Lai Duc Dai, informed that this festival also includes a specialized exhibition fair for coffee and OCOP products; a coffee brewing competition and coffee experience activities; a scientific seminar on coffee industry development; an international trade conference - connecting and elevating Vietnamese coffee; a street festival; a farmer competition...
In addition, there are other special activities such as: Light Festival; Rock Band Festival; International Off-Road Car Racing Competition "Challenge of the Great Forest - Buon Don 2025"; Travel itinerary: Buon Don Elephant Festival, Lak District Dugout Canoe Racing Festival...
In particular, domestic and international visitors to the festival will enjoy free coffee... According to the organizers, there are currently more than 500 coffee shops in the province registered to serve free coffee.
During the festival, there will also be tourism itineraries such as: "Coffee Journey," "Heritage Journey," eco-tours, cultural tours, adventure tours, experiencing community tourism products in villages... In addition, localities will also register cultural, sports and tourism activities to respond to the festival.

Notably, at the press conference, Mr. Lai Duc Dai also corrected the information that some newspapers reported in the past few days about the Elephant Racing Festival was incorrect. He affirmed that there is only an Elephant Festival with rituals honoring elephants such as: worshiping at the water wharf, praying for elephant health, bathing elephants, dressing up elephants for tourists to take pictures with elephants, and an elephant buffet.
Dak Lak provincial leaders affirmed that the festival was organized with the desire to contribute to enhancing the position of the Vietnamese coffee industry in the international arena and promoting the socio-economic development and tourism of Dak Lak province; honoring coffee growers, processors and traders; introducing tourism potential, promoting investment in the field of coffee and agricultural products; introducing and promoting the traditional culture of ethnic minorities, especially the Central Highlands Gong Cultural Space - an oral masterpiece and intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
Destination of the world's "black gold"
The Organizing Committee continues to choose Miss Universe Vietnam 2017, Top 5 Miss Universe World 2018 H'Hen Nie as the Media Ambassador of the 9th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival. In addition, the Festival Ambassador also includes Miss Vietnam Tourism Ambassador 2024 Dinh Thi Hoa.
“This is the third year H'Hen Niê has served as the Media Ambassador for the Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival. As a native of Dak Lak, H'Hen wishes to help the community and tourists experience the wonderful taste of Vietnamese coffee and spread the love of Vietnamese coffee to international friends,” Miss H'Hen Niê shared.

The “flower of the great forest” said that since she was little, she grew up with coffee plantations, every morning enjoying the special smoky flavor of wood-roasted coffee made by her mother, so she also hopes that the farmers in her hometown can produce increasingly high-quality coffee beans, to spread the value of coffee, contributing to helping Buon Ma Thuot become a destination for world coffee.
“On every trip abroad, H'Hen brings her hometown coffee to introduce to her friends around the world. As a media ambassador, H'Hen will spread the love for Vietnamese coffee, especially Dak Lak coffee, so that this unique flavor will become an indispensable part of everyone's daily taste,” H'Hen Niê expressed.
A highlight of the festival is the opening program on the evening of March 10, at March 10 Square. The organizers revealed that in this art program, local artists will tell the story of how Dak Lak's Robusta coffee beans became the world's "black gold".
“Coffee beans have really contributed to poverty reduction for local people. While Dak Lak used to have 80% poor households, now this number has dropped to only 6%. It is worth noting that our annual coffee output is produced by 80% of previously poor households,” Vice Chairman of the Dak Lak Provincial People’s Committee, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Ha emphasized./.

The 9th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival in 2025 is a practical activity to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Buon Ma Thuot Victory Day, the liberation of Dak Lak province (March 10, 1975 - March 10, 2025); this is also an important event, contributing to promoting the Buon Ma Thuot coffee brand, building the image of Buon Ma Thuot city as "Coffee City of the World."
Buon Ma Thuot is known as the “Coffee Capital of Vietnam,” with the largest coffee area and output in the country, with an area of about 210,000 hectares, and an annual harvest of more than 520,000 tons, accounting for more than 30% of the national output. The province’s coffee has been exported to hundreds of countries and territories around the world, always playing an important role in the province’s socio-economic development.
