The surgeons perform anastomosis of the urethra, corpus cavernosum, blood vessels, nerves, and soft tissues (blood vessels, penile nerves, cavernous anastomosis, and finally urethral anastomosis).

The surgery was very complicated because of the small blood vessels and jagged wound. The doctors had to cut and find blood vessels and nerves many times. After microsurgery to reconnect the blood vessels, the result was that the stump had turned warm and pink again, which was a sign that the surgery was successful.

After surgery, the patient's health is stable. However, further monitoring is needed before discharge.

Dr. Nguyen Van Phuc, Department of Andrology, 108 Central Military Hospital, said that studies show that nearly 50% of cases of penile amputation are due to self-amputation when the patient uses stimulants, the rest are due to others cutting due to hatred or jealousy, and a few cases are due to accidents.
