On the morning of March 28, Nam Giang district held a meeting to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Militia and Self-Defense Force and the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Nam Giang district (March 24, 1965 - March 24, 2025). Attending the meeting were Standing Vice Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee Phan Thai Binh.
Associated with the birth and development of the Vietnam Militia and Self-Defense Force, on April 9, 1949, the Ben Giang District Militia Force - the predecessor of the Nam Giang District Armed Forces was established, trained and matured; always fulfilling its historical mission in the revolutionary stages, contributing worthily to the glorious tradition of the local militia and army, of the homeland and the country.
In particular, 60 years ago, responding to the Nguyen Van Troi campaign launched by Quang Da province, the army and people of Nam Giang defeated the enemy's Coong Zel stronghold. At dawn on April 24, 1965, the US-puppet army hastily sent dozens of helicopters to Coong Zel to pick up the troops and retreat downstream, marking the day Nam Giang was completely liberated.
The victory on April 24, 1965 was a historical milestone, marking the revolutionary, steadfast, and indomitable spirit of the Co Tu, Ve, and Ta Rieng ethnic groups. And Nam Giang became a solid rear base, creating the position and strength for our army and people to continue attacking the US-puppet forces along the entire Quang Nam - Da Nang route, contributing to the great victory of spring 1975, unifying the country.
Along with those years, many shining examples of the heroic and courageous fighting spirit of cadres, soldiers and people such as heroes Po Loong Nhap, A Lang Bin, Ka Pa Huong, Bo Nuoc Do, ... contributed to writing golden pages of history, beautifying the flag of "Determination to fight, determination to win" of the heroic homeland of Quang Nam.
On this occasion, the District People's Committee commended 4 collectives and 8 individuals with outstanding achievements in the work of the Militia and Self-Defense Forces.
