Ahead of the 2024 Pho Festival, which will take place over 3 days (March 15-17) in Nam Dinh province, relevant agencies of the province have coordinated to plan the most thoughtful preparations for this nationwide event to promote pho culinary culture.
According to Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Nam Dinh province Nguyen Tien Dung, this is the first time in the country that the Pho Festival has been held in a locality. This year's event brings together many pho artisans, with 50 booths (including 30 typical pho booths, typical of all regions and 20 booths of trade, tourism promotion and OCOP products).
The event space is about 4,600m² in the Nam Cuong Hotel Square (Nam Dinh City) and Van Cu Village, Dong Son Commune (Nam Truc District). Not only is it a big event, attracting the attention of people inside and outside the province, the 2024 Pho Festival is expected to welcome many delegates from central departments, ministries, and branches; representatives of embassies and international organizations.

“The 2024 Pho Festival is an important event - an opportunity for Nam Dinh province to promote the image and traditional cultural beauty of the province to friends and tourists at home and abroad,” emphasized the Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Nam Dinh province.
The series of activities in the Pho Festival 2024 program is very rich, including the program "Vietnamese Pho Road"; cooking a giant pot of pho (containing up to 1,500-2,000 bowls); the talk show "Vietnamese Pho Road and Pho noodles"; the performance "Vietnamese Pho Flavor"; the youth music night "Pho in me"; sideline activities, entertainment, performances introducing pho culture...
In addition to honoring the traditional pho craft, the Pho Festival is also an opportunity to connect, exchange and promote trade between craft villages and businesses in the culinary field. At the same time, this is also an opportunity for tourists to visit, learn about and enjoy the taste of pho associated with regional cultures across the country.
At the 2024 Pho Festival, there will be about 25,000 bowls of pho served in the form of coupons (tickets), priced at only 15,000 VND/ticket, only half the lowest value of each bowl of pho. 50% of the revenue from coupon sales will be used for charity work, supporting disabled children.

In preparation for the organization of the Pho Festival 2024, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Nam Dinh province has closely coordinated with relevant units to develop a plan to welcome, ensure security and safety for delegates, guests and tourists attending the event; focusing on food hygiene and safety, traffic safety, and electrical safety.
Comrade Nguyen Tien Dung, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Nam Dinh province, added that the Pho Festival is an event that the leaders of Nam Dinh province are very interested in leading and directing the implementation. The good organization of the event will have an important contribution in proposing the recognition of "Pho" as a national intangible cultural heritage; from there, submitting it to UNESCO for inclusion in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Main activities during the 3 days of Pho Festival 2024: Day 1 (March 15): Morning: Delegates, leaders and guests of the Embassy experience pho at Van Cu village. Afternoon: Opening of the program "Vietnamese Pho Road". Day 2 (March 16): Morning: Discussion "The Vietnamese Pho Road and Pho Noodles"; Performance "The Flavor of Vietnamese Pho". Evening: Youth Music Night "Pho in Me". Day 3 (March 17): "Vietnamese Pho Noodles" exhibition: reenacting the process of making pho noodles and Vietnamese pho culture by region. Sideline activities include: Writing activity “Pho Hoai Niem”; photo activity “Honoring Vietnamese Pho”; roadshow activities to promote events in the city; coupon activities to promote pho culture for the community; entertainment activities to introduce pho culture; promoting Nam Dinh tourism. |
