On May 21, within the framework of the Group of Seven (G7) Summit in Hiroshima, Japan, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. The two sides discussed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Washington.
Sharing on Twitter after the above meeting, Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed satisfaction with the content of the discussion and emphasized the deep partnership between the two countries. This diplomat also said he looked forward to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Washington DC on June 22.
The purpose of the visit is to highlight the growing importance of the strategic partnership between India and the US in the context of the two countries' cooperation in various fields.
According to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, the reception for Mr. Modi will include a state reception hosted by US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden.
The White House confirmed the news, while emphasizing a shared commitment to a free, open, prosperous, and secure Indo-Pacific.
Washington also stated that during the visit, the two countries' leaders will discuss the desire to strengthen their strategic partnership in technology, including defense, clean energy and space.
Mr Biden and Mr Modi will also discuss expanding educational exchanges, people-to-people ties and tackling common challenges such as climate change, human resource development and health security.
