With just over a week to go until Lunar New Year, it is also the beginning of the bustling, joyful spring festivals imbued with traditional culture taking place in all localities in the province. With careful and meticulous preparation by localities and the cultural sector, this year's spring festival season is expected to continue to preserve traditional beauty while having many innovations in organization, promising to bring a joyful and safe atmosphere to people and tourists.

Attractive traditional festivals

Nowadays, traditional festivals not only serve the spiritual needs and cultural enjoyment of all classes of people, but also welcome domestic and international tourists to visit and learn about the culture. Thereby, contributing to the preservation, honor, promotion of values ​​and promotion of the image of historical relics and local scenic spots. Therefore, the preparation for organizing spring festivals is always of interest to localities, with instructions to organize them methodically and thoughtfully, ensuring solemnity, safety, health, economy and imbued with national identity.

One of the spring festivals that cannot be missed when traveling to Quang Ninh in particular and the North in general is Yen Tu Spring Festival, which is held for the first 3 lunar months of the year, in which the opening ceremony of the spring festival takes place on January 10 (February 7, 2025). Accordingly, in addition to activities to meet spiritual needs, coming to Yen Tu Spring Festival, people and tourists will be immersed in a unique cultural space with folk games; traditional art performances, ethnic musical instruments; dragon and unicorn dances; traditional martial arts performances; horse riding experiences... at Minh Tam Square area; viewing exhibitions of paintings and photos promoting the values ​​and majestic, sacred beauty of Yen Tu and experiencing cuisine, learning about the culture of the Dao Thanh Y ethnic community at the foot of Yen Tu mountain...

Vice Chairman of Uong Bi City People's Committee Nguyen Van Thanh said: Up to now, preparations for the Yen Tu Spring Festival are being urgently carried out to be ready to welcome people and tourists to attend the festival. The city has promoted propaganda and promotion activities for the Yen Tu Spring Festival in 2025. Along with that, directing units to review and supplement the system of signboards in the Yen Tu Relic Site; environmental sanitation propaganda signs, images of civilized tourism. At the same time, repair, maintain, and renovate the pilgrimage route system in the relic site, install a system of kiosks providing tourist information at tourist attractions, guide the use of services and utilities in Yen Tu; build a billboard introducing the overview of the Yen Tu Relic Complex and detailed maps of the component relic sites in the Yen Tu Relic Complex...

For the spring festival, the Provincial Buddhist Sangha Executive Committee and the Dong Trieu City People's Committee also coordinated to develop a plan and prepare conditions for organizing two city-level festivals, the Ngoa Van Spring Festival and the Thai Mieu Festival, to ensure safety, practicality and effectiveness. The festivals are all events with humanistic values, oriented towards the roots, expressing gratitude to the merits of the Tran kings and ancestors who have contributed to the country. Therefore, the units have proactively developed a plan to coordinate the organization of activities to welcome people and tourists to attend the festival to ensure thoughtfulness.

Mr. Pham Xuan Hoan, Head of the Tran Dynasty Relic Site Management Board, shared:   In addition to strengthening state management of festivals, this year, the city continues to focus on organizing a variety of cultural activities within the framework of festivals such as: Ngoa Van Spring Folk Song and Music Festival in Dong Trieu City;   An Sinh Commune Cultural Village Arts Festival 2025,   sports activities, folk games; introducing and displaying typical OCOP products of 19 communes and wards... Thereby, aiming to introduce and promote tangible and intangible cultural values; educate the tradition of patriotism, preserve and promote national cultural identity; raise the sense of responsibility of the people and the community in the work of managing, preserving and promoting the value of Tran Dynasty relics in Dong Trieu.

Spring festivals have long been a habit, a cultural beauty, an indispensable spiritual food of the Vietnamese people. Festivals held in the new spring are an opportunity to honor the tradition of patriotism, national pride, praise the spirit of love for labor, pray for national peace and prosperity, favorable weather, and wish for bountiful harvests. Quang Ninh currently has more than 100 festivals, of which nearly 80 are traditional festivals, many of which take place in spring. Along with major festivals in Uong Bi and Dong Trieu cities, some typical early spring festivals that attract a large number of tourists from all over the province include: Tien Cong Festival (Quang Yen Town), Cua Ong Temple Festival (Cam Pha City), Cai Bau Pagoda Festival (Van Don), Luc Na Communal House Festival (Binh Lieu); Van Ninh Communal House Festival (Mong Cai City), Dam Ha Communal House Festival (Dam Ha)...

According to statistics, on average, every year, the relic sites and scenic spots where spring festivals take place welcome from 1,000 to more than 10,000 visitors each day, the peak being during the main festival and weekends, showing the attraction of cultural and spiritual tourism in the province. It is forecasted that this year's Lunar New Year holiday will last 9 days, so people tend to choose 3-day 2-night or 4-day 3-night tours to visit, experience culture, relax, etc. This is a favorable opportunity for spring festivals to attract tourists and promote spiritual tourism in localities.
