Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Ho Quang Loi - President of the Vietnam - Romania Friendship Association said that on December 1, 2023, the brave, peace-loving, generous, benevolent, hardworking and creative Romanian people celebrate their 105th National Day. This is the day that marks the unification of not only Trasnylvania but also Bessarabia, Bukovina and parts of Banat, Crisana and Maramures into the Kingdom of Romania.

According to Mr. Ho Quang Loi, Romania is one of the 10 countries that established diplomatic relations with Vietnam the earliest. Continuing the fine tradition built and tested through historical periods, in recent years, the comprehensive friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Romania has been expanded and deepened in the fields of politics, diplomacy, trade, agriculture, industry, labor, tourism, education and training, etc.

Mr. Ho Quang Loi hopes that the comprehensive friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Romania will continue to develop, commensurate with the fine tradition of friendship, potential and strengths of the two countries.

"It is encouraging that the friendship and cooperation between localities of the two countries are increasingly strengthened; some provinces and cities of the two countries have established twin cities; people-to-people exchange activities are increasingly diverse, demonstrating the new vitality of the close friendship between Vietnam and Romania," said Mr. Ho Quang Loi.

At the meeting, Ms. Cristina Romila - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to Vietnam highly appreciated the long-standing traditional relationship between the Vietnamese and Romanian peoples, which was nurtured during the resistance war until peace.

In particular, Ms. Cristina Romila said that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had studied in Romania. On September 20, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis to continue to strongly promote bilateral relations in the coming time. At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the two sides increase contacts and delegation exchanges, especially at high levels, and continue to create breakthroughs in trade and investment so that the relationship between the two countries can develop commensurate with the potential and advantages of each country.

Ms. Cristina Romila said that in recent times, the Romanian Embassy in Vietnam and the Vietnamese Embassy in Romania have actively connected and closely coordinated with a number of ministries, localities, agencies and schools to develop cooperation programs.

Ms. Cristina Romila emphasized the prospect of economic relations between the two countries growing more strongly in most areas such as agricultural products or footwear... And recently, on November 21, a Romanian delegation led by the Romanian Minister of Economy came to Hanoi to hold the 17th meeting of the Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation.

Regarding education and training, recently, Ms. Cristina Romila informed that the Romanian Embassy in Vietnam and the Vietnamese Embassy in Romania have actively connected and closely coordinated with a number of ministries, localities, agencies and schools to develop specific cooperation programs.

"On April 1, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc and I signed the Cooperation Program in the field of education and training between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Government of Romania for the period 2022 - 2026. Every year, the two sides will exchange, on the principle of reciprocity, a maximum of 20 full scholarships for undergraduate, master's and doctoral training in the fields agreed upon by both sides," Ms. Cristina Romila emphasized.

According to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to Vietnam, the friendship and cultural exchange between the people of the two countries this year has continued to be strengthened and nurtured through activities and events in both Vietnam and Romania.

In Romania, the 556-page book “Wonderful Vietnam” by Dr. Pavel Suian was launched and widely introduced, providing readers with a comprehensive picture of Vietnam. It is considered a valuable document for the Romanian people in particular and the world in general to better understand the country and people of Vietnam.

Major concerts by prestigious Romanian Symphony Orchestras have come to Vietnam, bringing top-notch musical performances, causing great resonance in public opinion.

Also within the framework of the meeting, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam - Romania Friendship Association awarded Certificates of Merit from the Central Committee of the Vietnam - Romania Friendship Association in 2023 to groups and individuals who have made many contributions to fostering friendship and close cooperation between Vietnam and Romania.
