*Pig price in the North:
The price of live pigs in the North decreased simultaneously in many provinces and cities this morning. Accordingly, the mark of 64,000 VND/kg has disappeared from the market.
Currently, the price of live pigs in this area fluctuates from 61,000 - 63,000 VND/kg, with the level of 63,000 recorded in the following localities: Hanoi, Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Thai Binh and Vinh Phuc.
* Pig price in the Central Highlands region
The Central region saw the same decrease in Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Quang Binh and Lam Dong, to the same level of 61,000 VND/kg.
After a decrease of VND2,000/kg, live pigs in Ha Tinh are being sold at VND60,000/kg. The remaining provinces in the region keep prices stable at around VND60,000 - 61,000/kg.
*Pig price in the Southern region
The Southern market increased in the opposite direction in Kien Giang and Long An, reaching prices of 62,000 VND/kg and 63,000 VND/kg, respectively.
Accordingly, traders in the South are currently purchasing live pigs at prices ranging from 60,000 - 63,000 VND/kg. Of which, live pigs in Can Tho, Long An and Ca Mau are being sold at the highest price in the region at 63,000 VND/kg.
* Although the price of live pigs nationwide has decreased, the price of pork at the markets is still expensive because the price of pigs at slaughterhouses and wholesale markets has not decreased.
Retailers said they would only adjust retail meat prices up/down if the price of live pigs fluctuated at a high level. If the price of live pigs increased/decreased by about VND10,000/kg, the price of pork at the market would be adjusted up/down accordingly.
If it is below that level, the price of pork will remain the same. Moreover, it is better to keep the price of pork stable than to increase and decrease the price every day, causing anxiety for consumers.
