Copilot is Microsoft's new generative AI chatbot that can generate text and other content like a human with just a few keywords. The Copilot chatbot is based on a large language model (LLM) that OpenAI has trained on numerous datasets to compose emails, answer questions, and work automatically on Windows, combined with information from websites.

AI chatbots will power the world’s most popular computer operating system. Meanwhile, Microsoft will start selling Microsoft 365 Copilot, an AI add-on for users of its office suite, later this week.
Windows Copilot-specific features include the ability to open apps, switch to dark mode, enable Bluetooth, and take screenshots.
When you open a website in Edge, the Copilot chatbot will summarize what's on the page. On Apple's Mac, you can chat with Siri, but the assistant's responses aren't as detailed as Windows Copilot.
Windows 11 has about 24% of the desktop market, according to data from research firm StatCounter, while Windows 10 – which is supported until October 2025 – has 72% of the market. Microsoft has seen rapid adoption globally from companies such as BP, Eurowings, Kantar and RBC, according to CEO Satya Nadella.
The Windows operating system still plays an important role for the American technology giant, bringing in one-tenth of its total revenue. Microsoft wants Windows to maintain this position because it is the foundation for Microsoft 365 and also the growth springboard for its public cloud service Azure.
In addition to Copilot, Microsoft brings new features on Windows 11 2023 Update (23H2) such as virtual video editor, smart screenshot (allows copying text from screenshot), energy saving (turns off the screen when not looking at the screen) and AI integration for the Paint application (enter some characters for Paint to create images)...
To update Microsoft Windows 23H2, users access Settings > Windows Update > Check for Updates.
