Thanks to its year-round temperate climate, Central Vietnam golf courses are an ideal destination for golfers from countries with harsh winter climates.
According to data from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, South Korea has become the leading market for Vietnam, with more than 2.3 million visitors recorded in the first 8 months of 2023. This figure marks a 16-fold increase compared to the same period in 2022.
This trend is taking place at top golf clubs such as Ba Na Hills Golf Club and Laguna Golf Lang Co during the winter months, where visitors from East Asian countries choose to escape the cold weather where they live to visit places with more ideal golfing conditions.
Mr. Gary Dixon, General Manager of Ba Na Hills Golf Club said: "The Central region offers a rich variety of experiences, from cuisine to entertainment and cultural values. Many direct flights from major cities in East Asian countries to Da Nang have made it more convenient for tourists to come to Vietnam."
Mr. Stephen Banks, Director of Golf at Laguna Golf Lang Co added: "Travelers from East Asian countries really appreciate the Central Vietnam with its many options for golf. Not only does it have high-quality golf courses, the Central region also offers ideal conditions for playing golf all year round. That is why many golfers choose this destination to play golf during the winter months."
VGC golf courses are also making efforts to attract a large number of visitors from East Asian countries. Laguna Lang Co - a complex with many award-winning resorts such as Banyan Tree Lang Co, Angsana Lang Co and Laguna Parkside Residences Lang Co - has also recruited talented Korean chefs to help East Asian visitors feel like they are in their second home.
The expansion of international air routes has made travel between Central Vietnam and South Korea increasingly convenient. With a flight time of only about 5 hours, many airlines now operate up to 20 direct flights per day, connecting major Korean cities such as Seoul and Busan with Da Nang.
Travelers from other East Asian countries can also travel to the Central region more easily and conveniently. At the end of March, Vietnam Airlines resumed flights between Da Nang and Tokyo, Japan. New flights to be launched in 2023 include Da Nang - Taipei (Taiwan) and Da Nang - Macau. There are also service flights between Da Nang and major Chinese cities such as Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu.
Eight years ago, East Asian tourists knew Da Nang for its golf course options. However, visitors to the central region have recently sought out a more diverse range of experiences, including dining, entertainment, luxury resorts, pristine beaches and popular tourist destinations such as Hue, Hoi An and the Golden Bridge at Sun World Ba Na Hills.
