In an interview on the sidelines of the 19th ASIAD, Director of the Department of Sports and Physical Training Dang Ha Viet said that the controversy over "the 800,000 VND meal was not enough for the national youth table tennis team" is a reminder for the sports industry to review and strengthen control over gathering and training activities.
Even the Director admitted that he could not say for sure whether there were similar incidents in other units.
" I can't say for sure whether it still exists or not, but this is a big lesson. In the upcoming plan, the Department of Sports and Physical Training must review it so that it never happens again. I think this is a warning to all those who lack concern for athletes, mainly caring about personal interests. This is a lesson for us to be aware of ," said Director Dang Ha Viet.

Director Dang Ha Viet added: " At the National Sports Training Centers, issues related to spending on food and athletes' salaries are specifically checked and controlled. However, there are still loopholes. The facilities at the centers are inadequate, many teams have to practice outside.
There are still many problems and loopholes that we need to deal with. This is a lesson for the sports industry to focus more on activities outside the National Sports Training Center ."
After receiving information reflecting that the meals of the national youth table tennis team were not commensurate with the regime that the athletes were entitled to according to regulations, and at the same time the head coach had collected some money from the athletes, the Department of Sports and Physical Training investigated and proposed handling measures.
The verification conclusion of the Department of Sports and Physical Training has not been announced yet. The Department of Sports and Physical Training replaced the coaching staff of the national youth table tennis team, and decided to stop training for coach Bui Xuan Ha (who was reported for collecting money from athletes).
Athletes were also brought back to the Hanoi National Sports Training Center to live and practice, instead of staying at the High-Level Athlete Training Center as before.
