Wanting to give her child more interesting experiences this summer, Ms. Dong Thanh Huyen (29 years old, Hoang Mai, Hanoi) decided to learn about summer courses. However, when searching online, Ms. Huyen was quite confused because there were so many different courses.
Courses are very diverse in both content and form, usually organized for a period of one week to a month, with prices ranging from several million to several tens of millions of Dong.
Ms. Huyen communicated with several fanpages about military summer camps for children, but only received a vague message of advice, then was instructed to contact another number via Zalo. Instead of detailed information about the course, the owner of this Zalo account continuously urged her to pay quickly to receive a tuition discount. Realizing something was wrong, Ms. Huyen immediately stopped contacting.

“ There are many centers that are inactive for almost the whole year, but in the summer they have programs. Thinking about the many sophisticated scams on social networks recently, I am very confused, not knowing how to distinguish between real and fake ,” said Ms. Huyen.
Like Ms. Huyen, other parents also feel confused by a series of social networking sites advertising summer courses. Many people are even falling into the vortex of fake fanpages, when constantly receiving news of discounts, programs with extremely attractive incentives.
Choose an effective and safe course
According to Dr. Ho Lam Giang, educational psychologist and head of the Happy Teen education advisory board, summer courses for children are considered educational experiential activities. Therefore, they need to be carefully selected, based on specific criteria.
Firstly, a reputable organization with many years of experience will be the first "guaranteed ticket". To be more clear about this, it is necessary to refer to feedback from parents and students who have directly participated in the course, from which there will be a more realistic and objective view.
Second, the content and organization of the program must be educational and humane. Parents also need to pay special attention to the practical value that the course brings.
Third, in big cities, summer camps are often held in the suburbs far from the center, or in open spaces, accompanied by many physical activities, which are likely to have many risk factors. Therefore, ensuring the safety of children needs special attention.
"For some children with cardiovascular and neurological diseases, parents need to pay attention when choosing an experience program, especially summer camps with activities and challenges that are too strong and harsh," Dr. Giang advised.
Fourth, depending on economic conditions, parents need to be alert to make the right choice for their children. In reality, high prices do not necessarily come with corresponding quality. For children, sometimes a low-cost, well-organized, and tailored experience is more valuable than a high-end summer camp with sky-high costs, but superficial and for show.
Dr. Giang noted that parents should be especially cautious with courses advertised as bringing extraordinary values in a short time to appeal to pain. Learning is a process, it cannot be achieved through just one course in a few days that brings unexpected results such as becoming a super memory, healing injuries.
“There are many courses where children come home from school with distorted attitudes towards life, delusions about their own strength, and a lack of practicality. Not to mention, some units are so irresponsible that they turn summer camps into places of “exile,” where children are traumatized and traumatized,” said Dr. Giang.
Choosing a course or summer camp in today's era is necessary, but it also causes headaches for many parents. However, for the sake of a hundred years of nurturing people, the female doctor advises parents to be careful in choosing a place to send their children, because any mistake will bring about consequences that are very difficult to overcome, directly affecting the future of the children.
According to the Department of Information Security, Ministry of Information and Communications, recently, in many localities nationwide such as Da Nang, Thua Thien - Hue, Hanoi..., a number of scam groups have appeared creating accounts on social networks such as "Summer Camp Skills - CAND Semester", "Summer Camp Military Semester", "Aviation Career Summer Camp"... with interfaces, addresses, and phone numbers similar to information of police agencies, military, and aviation units.
To avoid losing money unjustly, the representative of the Information Security Department recommends that people be vigilant against forms of impersonation of summer camp organizers to commit fraud.
When receiving information from Facebook pages with similar content as above, parents need to contact and meet directly, request the agency or organization to provide documents proving that the organization is legal and allowed to organize the above events. Absolutely do not follow the instructions to transfer money to anyone and for any reason if the identity of the recipient has not been accurately determined.
