On August 17, the People's Committee of Ba Dinh District (Hanoi) reported on the fire at restaurant No. 67Y Pho Duc Chinh, Truc Bach Ward, which occurred on the evening of August 16.
According to the People's Committee of Ba Dinh District, the fire area was formerly the business establishment of Star 67Y Joint Stock Company, a mobile food service business with an area of 600 square meters.

The facility has been closed and out of business since April. Its current status is a row of one-story kiosks with a corrugated iron roof and brick walls built on the street side, with only an inside entrance. The interior is being renovated to become a restaurant.
"The initial cause of the fire was determined to be a welder cutting iron, causing a fire. Property damage is being assessed and determined specifically by the authorities," informed the People's Committee of Ba Dinh District.
On the morning of August 17, Hanoi City Police also informed about the fire at Star restaurant on Pho Duc Chinh street, Truc Bach ward, Ba Dinh district.
Accordingly, at 6:39 p.m. on August 16, the City Police Command Information Center received a fire report at the above restaurant.
The center urgently mobilized 11 fire trucks, specialized vehicles and dozens of officers and soldiers of the Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Police (PCCC&CNCH) to the scene.
The Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department also dispatched a vehicle transport truck and two command vehicles to the scene to direct firefighting and rescue operations.
At the same time, the Ward Police, the Traffic Police Team, the Ba Dinh District Police Order, the Ba Dinh District Military Command, and the militia and self-defense forces, medical forces... also deployed to the scene to organize traffic flow, ensure security and order in the fire area, and support the Fire Police force in performing their duties.
The restaurant that caught fire has a construction area of about 650m2, 1 floor and 1 mezzanine. The fire started from the roof of the restaurant, then quickly spread to the 1st floor which has many flammable materials (foam, foam, fabric, wood, etc.).
The fire broke out quickly, spread widely, emitted a lot of smoke and toxic gas, surrounded the entire fire area and caused many difficulties for the authorities in approaching and organizing fire fighting.
By 10:07 p.m. the same day, the fire was basically under control, and units continued to spray water to cool and extinguish the embers. By 11 p.m., the fire was extinguished, thereby promptly preventing the fire from spreading to neighboring houses and structures.
During the fire fighting process, a soldier from the Ba Dinh Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Team suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to the emergency room. His health is now stable. The fire did not cause any human casualties.
