Previously, on August 24, a solemn ceremony to pay respect to Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh was held. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, leaders and former leaders of the Party and State sent wreaths to pay their respects to Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh.
The delegation of the Party Central Committee led by Politburo member, Permanent Secretary of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organization Commission Truong Thi Mai visited comrade Le Van Thanh and expressed condolences to his family. Leaders and former leaders of the Party and State joined the delegation.
The National Assembly delegation led by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue; the Presidential delegation led by President Vo Van Thuong; the Government delegation led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front delegation led by Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien, visited Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh and expressed condolences to his family.
Delegations from the Central Military Commission, Ministry of National Defense; Central Public Security Party Committee, Ministry of Public Security; Central Party Office; Office of the President; Government Office; central and local ministries, departments, branches, international organizations... came to pay their respects to Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh and expressed condolences to his family.
At exactly 7 o'clock, the Memorial Service for Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh began.
Attending the funeral were Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; former President Nguyen Xuan Phuc; Deputy Prime Ministers Le Minh Khai, Tran Hong Ha, Tran Luu Quang; Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai; leaders and former leaders of the Party and State; representatives of central and local ministries, departments, branches, international organizations, people of Hai Phong city... who came to bid farewell to Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh.
Reading the eulogy at the Memorial Service for Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh, Party Central Committee Secretary, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai was moved to say that throughout his life of studying, dedicating, and serving the revolutionary cause of the Party, the nation, and the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, no matter what position he held, Comrade Le Van Thanh was always a shining example of political courage, pioneering spirit of innovation, daring to think, daring to do, daring to take responsibility, and wholeheartedly serving the Fatherland and the People. He was trusted by the organization, loved and respected by his colleagues.
He is a loyal revolutionary Party member, constantly striving to study and follow Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style; is an example of diligence, thrift, integrity, impartiality and selflessness; maintains solidarity and unity within the Party, always lives, works and contributes to the common cause, puts the interests of the Party, the Fatherland and the People above all else.
As a senior leader of the Party and State, comrade Le Van Thanh always brings all his intelligence and enthusiasm, contributing many important opinions to major issues of the country.
As Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee, he left many marks with decisions to help the city develop strongly and dynamically, such as: the program of building 100 bridges, completing the connecting traffic system, building new apartment buildings, building a green park in each ward, building model new rural communes...
Many meaningful and sincere social security policies have been approved and supported by the people, such as: building and renovating old apartment buildings; supporting cement for road construction; building and repairing houses for meritorious families and poor households; raising social allowance levels, etc.
During his tenure as Deputy Prime Minister, he focused on directing the construction and completion of institutional systems in the assigned fields; he gave many instructions to help solve inter-sectoral issues, promote the implementation of strategic transport infrastructure projects, direct the implementation and completion of a number of national sectoral, regional and provincial planning, contributing to handling problems of pending projects and removing difficulties in production and business.

He has fulfilled his responsibilities as a Government member well, making important contributions to the Government's leadership and management tasks... His decisions always aim to serve the legitimate and legal rights and interests of the People.
With his will, courage, enthusiasm and determination, his fierce, profound and straightforward leadership style, always concerned with researching and seeking creative ways of doing things, comrade Le Van Thanh has made worthy contributions to the process of planning and organizing the implementation of policies, building and developing the country initiated and led by our Party, leaving behind many good lessons and valuable experiences for future generations to learn and follow, especially for Hai Phong city.
At work, Comrade Le Van Thanh is a loyal, dedicated, brave, creative leader, respected by comrades, people, and loved by international friends. He is sincere, close, friendly, sociable, and sharing. In the family, he is a kind, exemplary, virtuous husband, father, and grandfather, full of sacrifice and compassion.
With 61 years of age and 35 years of service, comrade Le Van Thanh has devoted his whole life to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. With his merits, contributions and outstanding achievements, he was awarded the Third Class Labor Medal, Second Class Labor Medal, the title of National Emulation Fighter and many other noble awards by the Party and State.
Comrade Le Van Thanh, born on October 20, 1962; hometown: Tan Lien Commune, Vinh Bao District, Hai Phong City; permanent residence at 217 Lach Tray Street, Ngo Quyen District, Hai Phong City; joined the work in February 1988; joined the Party on June 24, 1997; Member of the Party Central Committee, 12th and 13th terms; Member of the Party Committee of the Government, Deputy Prime Minister; former Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Hai Phong City; Delegate of the 12th National Assembly.
The funeral of Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh was held the same morning, at his hometown cemetery in Tan Lien commune, Vinh Bao district, Hai Phong city.
