The 9th Golden Hammer and Sickle Awards Ceremony

(CLO) On the evening of January 20, at Ho Guom Theater - Hanoi, on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Central Organizing Committee chaired and coordinated with Nhan Dan Newspaper, Communist Magazine, Vietnam Television, and Vietnam Journalists Association to organize the Announcement and Award Ceremony of the 9th National Press Award on Party Building (named Golden Hammer and Sickle) - 2024.

Attending the Award Ceremony were General Secretary To Lam; former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh; former Chairmen of the National Assembly: Nguyen Sinh Hung, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan; Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Inspection Committee Tran Cam Tu; Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Organization Committee, Head of the Steering Committee of the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award Le Minh Hung; members of the Politburo, Secretariat, members of the Party Central Committee...

Also attending were leaders of central and local departments, ministries, branches, and organizations, leaders of news agencies and newspapers, authors, representatives of author groups, representatives of collectives and individuals receiving the 9th Golden Hammer and Sickle Award.

Speaking at the award ceremony, General Secretary To Lam emphasized that in 2025, Vietnam's revolutionary press will turn 100 years old - an important milestone, marking the glorious historical journey of revolutionary press accompanying the birth, growth and development of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

During that process, under the leadership of the Party, first and foremost President Ho Chi Minh, the Vietnamese revolutionary press has always been the core force, playing a pioneering role on the ideological and cultural front, making great contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the country.

In particular, the team of revolutionary journalists wrote about the Party with all their feelings, responsibilities, and enthusiasm; not only reflecting reality but also arousing trust, responsibility, and contributing to creating consensus among the whole society under the leadership of the Party.

The General Secretary stated that the National Press Award on Party building named "Golden Hammer and Sickle" was born and developed to recognize and honor the great role and contributions of revolutionary journalism.

Through 9 times of organization, the Award has increasingly affirmed its prestige, stature and demonstrated the professional maturity and political mettle of the team of professional and non-professional journalists writing about the topic of Party building.

"Journalists have truly taken on the responsibility and integrated themselves into the work of building and rectifying the Party and the political system, reflecting and analyzing in a very diverse and rich way all aspects of Party building work, in all types of grassroots party organizations, across the country," said the General Secretary.

General Secretary To Lam and Comrade Tran Cam Tu - Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Inspection Commission presented the A Prize to the winning authors.

General Secretary To Lam assessed that the press has truly affirmed its pioneering role in promptly condemning negative behaviors and uncompromisingly fighting corruption, waste, and wrong and hostile viewpoints. At the same time, the press has also actively spread positive values, new models, good practices, and typical examples among cadres, party members, and the people.

Many works not only attract public attention but also contribute to suggesting and proposing practical solutions to help Party committees and authorities at all levels overcome difficulties and obstacles, promoting development. In particular, the press has played a good role in propagating and disseminating the Party's new policies and guidelines, arousing the spirit of innovation and social responsibility among all classes of people.

Comrade Nguyen Hoa Binh - Politburo member, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister and Comrade Le Minh Hung - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Organizing Committee awarded Prize B to the winning authors.

“In particular, in recent times, the press has done a very good job of propagating and widely disseminating the Party's major policies and orientations on the "New Era", on the revolution of streamlining the apparatus of the political system, on the efforts and determination to handle the "bottlenecks" that are hindering the country's development...

Through that, the Vietnamese revolutionary press has truly integrated itself into the flow of real life, clearly demonstrating its role in guiding ideology and accompanying the great steps of the Party, spreading trust, responsibility, and aspiration for development among all classes of people. These contributions are not only the results of creative labor but also evidence of the mettle, intelligence, and social responsibility of the press team in carrying out its historical mission," General Secretary To Lam emphasized.

Comrade Phan Dinh Trac - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission and Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia - Politburo member, Head of the Central Propaganda Commission presented the C Prize to the winning authors.

The General Secretary said that 2025 is a key year for us to be determined to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, the year to hold Party congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Party Congress, and also a year with many major holidays of the country and people.

"We also celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day. The most important task in 2025 is to successfully complete the set targets and plans, creating the foundation and premise for a breakthrough in the next term. In that context, the press writing about Party building needs to actively contribute to helping our Party become increasingly clean and strong, on par with its responsibility and historical mission to lead the nation to development in the new era. The press must closely follow the political tasks and major issues of the Party and the country to focus on comprehensive, profound, effective, and focused propaganda," the General Secretary requested.

Create a lively forum about many important events

According to the Organizing Committee's assessment, the new feature in the content of the press works participating in the 2024 Golden Hammer and Sickle Award is that they vividly and promptly reflect the events and political activities of the Party such as the 9th and 10th Central Conferences and the resolutions of the Central Executive Committee (term XIII), creating a lively forum on issues such as summarizing the Party building work of the entire term and the implementation of the Party Charter...

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang - Politburo member, Director of Ho Chi Minh National Academy, and General Luong Tam Quang - Politburo member, Minister of Public Security presented the thematic prizes to the winning authors.

In particular, after General Secretary To Lam had a number of articles expressing the guiding ideology and strategic thinking for the Party to lead the country into a new era - the era of national development, it has inspired many issues and topics for journalists to think about and create more works reflecting the new vision and spirit in the work of leading, directing, and operating socio-economic development, ensuring national defense - security and foreign affairs, building the Party and the political system, continuing to improve the leadership and governing capacity of the Party. Among them, there are a number of works honored at this year's Award Ceremony, creating a good impression of a national press award on Party building - the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award.

Comrade Hoang Dang Quang - Member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee and Comrade Nguyen Quang Duong, Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee awarded certificates of merit to honor 15 outstanding collectives, exemplary in contributing significantly to the success of the 9th Golden Hammer and Sickle Award - 2024.

The final jury met, discussed enthusiastically, democratically and voted by secret ballot, selecting the best works from 137 finalists to award prizes, including 6 A Prizes, 12 B Prizes, 18 C Prizes, 10 Special Prizes and 40 Encouragement Prizes.

The Steering Committee and Organizing Committee of the Award also decided to reward 3 units with creative media products and 12 units including the propaganda department, the organizing committee of the Party Committee, the press agency and the journalists' association with outstanding achievements in organizing, promoting and responding to the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award.

Comrade Nguyen Duy Ngoc - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief of the Party Central Committee Office and Comrade Le Hoai Trung - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central External Relations Commission presented the Encouragement Prize to the winning authors.

At this year's Award Ceremony, the group of authors Tran Lan Anh - Ha Thi Hong Sam - Nguyen Quan Tuan - Tran Van Quoc - Nguyen Thi Huong - Quach Ha Duong - Nguyen Ba Quynh of the Journalist & Public Opinion Newspaper won the B prize with the series of articles "People's trust - the strength of the Party". The series of articles conveys the message: People's trust in the Party is the source of strength that led to the victory of the Vietnamese revolution.

With its positive contributions, the Journalist & Public Opinion newspaper was also honored to win the Outstanding Collective Award at the 9th Golden Hammer and Sickle Awards Ceremony - 2024.

At the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award Ceremony, Comrade Le Minh Hung - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Organizing Committee, Head of the Steering Committee of the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award launched the 10th National Press Award on Party Building (Golden Hammer and Sickle Award) - 2025.
