Officials, civil servants, public employees and workers will have 4 consecutive days off for National Day on September 2, 2023.
National Day Holiday Schedule 2023
According to document 8056/VPCP-KGVX dated December 1, 2022 of the Government Office, National Day holiday is from September 1, 2023 to September 4, 2023.
The Government leader requested that agencies and units implementing the above holiday schedule must arrange work units reasonably to handle work continuously, ensuring good service to the organization and the people.
The Government leader authorized the Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to announce the National Day holiday in 2023.
Authorized by the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has issued a notice stating: Civil servants and public employees will have a holiday for National Day 2023 from Friday, September 1, 2023 to Monday, September 4, 2023.
This holiday includes 02 National Day holidays, 01 weekly day off and 01 compensatory day off for weekly days off according to the provisions of the Labor Code.
The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs requests agencies and units implementing the 2023 National Day holiday schedule to note the following: Arrange and organize working departments reasonably to handle work continuously, ensuring good service to organizations and people.
Agencies and units that do not have a fixed schedule of Saturday and Sunday off every week will base on the specific program and plan of the unit to arrange a suitable schedule.
For employees who are not civil servants or public employees, the employer decides to choose the National Day holiday option in 2023.
Accordingly, employees will have Saturday, September 2, 2023 off and choose 1 of 2 days: Friday, September 1, 2023 or Sunday, September 3, 2023 Gregorian calendar.
If a weekly day off coincides with a public holiday, the employee will be given a compensatory day off on the next working day according to the provisions of the Labor Code.
* Previously, during the April 30 and May 1 holidays in 2023, workers had 5 consecutive days off because April 30 and May 1 were close to the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day. The reason for the 5 days off is that, in addition to the 3 official holidays including Hung Kings' Commemoration Day, Victory Day, and International Labor Day, workers, students, officials, and civil servants also had 2 more days off because the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day (April 29) and Victory Day (April 30) fell on Saturday and Sunday. The holiday starts from April 29, 2023, and lasts until May 3, 2023.
Regulations on Hung Kings' Commemoration Day holidays have been applied since 2007. According to the current 2019 Labor Code, the total number of holidays and Tet holidays for employees in a year is 11 days.
According to the 2023 holiday schedule, in 2023, employees will have 3 long holidays: the 7-day Lunar New Year holiday in January 2023; the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day holiday, March 30 and May 1, and the National Day holiday in 2023.
